power hatch motor

Hello all,
I have a question, my hatrch motor works intermittenly (sp). When ever I push the dash button, i just hear a click, and nothing happens, usually I would hit it twice then the hatch would pop up, now I have to hit the button at least 3-4 times before the hatch releases. On another note, everytime I close the hatch the motor pulls down the hatch, each and every time. Any information willbe greatly appreicated.

Sounds like the gas struts are shot and not able to pop the heavy hatch lid up, so the latch just re-closes.

The latch is likely gummed up with debris and dried grease. Remove the plastic cover. Remove the one bolt mounting the solenoid release to the latch assy. Spray it will with WD40. Cover it with a rag and flush it with compressed air. Also check that the solenoid is still working strong. If the solenoid is weak replace it. Then re-assemble. Also take loose the ground wire and clean it. It should work fine after that. Good luck, Lon.
