Sun Visor recovering?

Alright, after completing my headliner, I decided that the faded sun visor smust go. So I got some headliner material. I figured I would just go this way with it instead of whatever was on there before. Anyway. I am wondering if anyone has done this before. I don't think there is any way to get around that mirror. I think I might just rip the thing off there. I mean honestly, who really cares what they look like. I'll just take the screw out of the rear-view mirror so that it can take the place of the visor mirror.

But, I am just wondering if it is at all possible to recover these, or did I just make a big misteak ripping the covering off of them?

Thanks

I looked into it but decided to save myself the PITA and just order new ones at friggin $60 or something like that. Interestingly enough, the new passenger one didn't come with a mirror on it, nor did it come with holes punched through the cardboard if I want to attach it myself. That's not very cool.

I haven't bothered to have mine recovered on my Camaro yet. They are still in good shape, except for where the top latch crunched one corner. But I did take my brand new sun visors to my local auto upholstry shop and have them recovered for $15 each. They had the ugly air bag warning stickers on them. Nope, I won't have that in my truck, it's gotta go! If only I could find an easy and inexpensive way to get rid of the warning label on the center console.

i recovered my sunvisors myself, i used a leopard fur-like material so you can't see the stitches through the fur, and put it right over the mirror. It was really cheap and easy, and i look like a pimp now, lol.

So, does anyone know if it is sewable or not? I am guessing it would be possible to sew the thing back up, but I am not sure I want to run cardboard through a sewing machine. Especially not an industrial one. I think I might just try stapling the cardboard together, then just stick the ends of the headliner in there like the origional covering was. And also use the adhesive that was used on the headliner. That should keep it there forever.
I am going to ditch the mirror however. It's pretty ugly. I'll just stick it in the console or something.

Thanks guys!

OK.. well, today I finished tearing the old covering off both visors. I also cut the mirror off. I made sure I cut it in a way so that I could re-apply it if I needed to.
I was standing there looking at the car while holding the visors and an idea came to me.
I could create the words "PONTIAC" and "FIREBIRD" out of fiberglass or plastic. Then, when I get the visors covered, stick the words PONTIAC and FIREBIRD on the visors in such a way, that when both are folded down, they can be read.

So, the pass. side visor says PONTIAC and the driver's FIREBIRD.
At a show, I could put the visors down, and they are then read through the windshield. They would also be on the bottom side of the visor so that when it is up, it can still be read inside the car as well.

I am also going to be recovering the speaker cover panels. I was thinking of adding a personal touch to these as well, but due to the Firebird in the headliner, I do not want to go over on this and make it look bad. I was thinking of just adding maybe a small bird, or else the Pontiac emblem. I am not sure which to go with at this point.

Let me know what you guys suggest. I am going to go with something in there, I'm just not sure what yet.
