Accident Friday :(

Well, in my 6 years of driving, I have never ever had a problem till this past Friday. I rear-ended a pickup with my TA. My stupid @$$ fault completely...was headed down an off-ramp, and this guy was stopped, but he started to go forward and let off the brake...I also let off my brakes, and looked down at the camcorder I had on my seat-I had to grab it so it wouldnt fall off the seat and brake as I took the curve. Well, thats when it happend, I looked up and the guy was stopped again, and i went right into the back of him. Wasnt too fast-like 20mph or so, but enough to distort the nose and mess up my hood and break my pass. side headlight. I did get the nose back in shape(except for the scratches)...went back home and took it offf, and pounded the crap out of it with a rubber mallet. So it looks fine for the most part....the hood needs to be replaced, and so does the headlamp...The metal that sits behind the nose and keeps the hood closed was also twisted out of proportion, but I was able to get that back into shape as well. The hood and nose dont line up anymore like they used to, and neither do the headlights. I dont know, i just feel like a retard. And i should. It just pis*es me off. I hope one day I can get that car back to its original shape. Any advice or anything? I am sure this will most likely get closed, but I needed to vent and get this out of my system. Sorry for the inconvienience.

Bah, that sucks...I wouldn't feel too stupid, accidents are called that for a reason...just be glad there was so little damage done as it is, I guess.

Look at it this way, atleast you can admit your faults in the incident. I can distinctley remember a friend once telling me ( a female friend I might add) " it was the guys fault for stopping, yeah he was at a stop sign, but he should have been paying attention to me as I was coming through!" Word for word.

I could easily point the finger at someone and say "it was his fault" or whatever, but I fess up to my faults. It was a dumb@$$ mistake of mine, and I take full responsibility for my actions. As far as lining everything up, it seemed to have worked out OK for now...until i restore the car, this will do....the hood will have to get replaced, so it gives me a good excuse to get an RA II hood or something along that line. I am just waiting for my headlamp assembly to come in now. Oh, not to promote where I work or anything, but Advance Auto Parts can get body parts for thirdgens now and 4th gens...lights, bumpers, almost anything. Thats where I am getting the headlight assembly from. It has to be ordered though. Anyway, thanks for the support and advice...it really helped. Also, today, i had to get a new computer for the thing....i had a buddy look at it that had a snap-on scan tool, and it was throwing every code in the book-even one for a theft deterrent system, and i dont have one. So after we put the new ECM in, i thought i had a new car!!! It runs 100% better than it has been...more power, etc...throws me back in my seat now!! thats the one good thing that has come out of all this...so i have half a smile on my face and half a frown...too bad there is no face i can put on here for that...

while everyone is trying to make you feel better...

I just wanted to say that you should be happy that you haven't had an accident until now and the one that you just had could have been MUCH worse. The 1st time I ever got into an accident I hit a towtruck that was towing a car in my old camaro. He ran a red light and I wasn't paying attention -next thing I new I hit him doing 50 and picked his truck up with my frontend. That destroyed my car. I couldn't believe how bad my car looked after that.At least your car survived with only a couple battle wounds.

Believe me, I am VERY grateful that it wasnt worse, and I know it definetly could have been. I am glad no one got hurt, I didnt cause major damage to the other car, and that there isnt any legal action against me. Yes, it definetly could have been worse off, and whats better is that my car is still on the road the same day of my accident. Bad news on the headlight assembly....its just the light and the bracket that holds the light, not the mechanism that pops up and down with the metal top part is what I can get through my store....so I didnt get what i needed. I was thinking of how to fabricate a bracket for a fixed headlight system using headlights from a 94 and newer camaro setup style....so now its to the drawing board to try to figure that out...I think it would look cool, and it would take some weight off the front end. What do you guys think?

i rear ended a telephone company van about a month before i sold my camaro to my brother. we were coming up on one of those tunnels that are only wide enough for oneway traffic. as we went under the light, it turned yellow. i pulled the stupid "yellow means hurry up and go" and got right up on his a$$ to make the light. at the last second, he slammed on his brakes, i slammed mine, but i still hit him. i scratched the front bumper, and cracked it a little. we got out, agreed that were were both fine, and left. i admitted that it was my fault, but still to this day i don't know why he would decide to stop so late when he was so far under the light. oh well, i have an iroc front end for whenever he feels like putting the gfx on anyway.
