Man up to that many now. Whew... When I got mine it was just red, blue, & yellow. Then they had custom colors available for order with a significant $ increase. They added purple, teal, green... not sure what other colors. I think it was 8-9 that you could mix and match. I remember seeing the ones that were paint splatters of color instead of stripes. I thought they had a solid colored tread too, but that was 2 years ago and prob a prototype. Who knows now.

Hey, I got my 86 LG4 to hit 5000rpm in 5th gear, that is about 157mph. Only had 3 mods on the car, here is a pic,

Stock exhaust, stock manifolds, and an MSD HEI Module, Edelbrock 1406 carb, 7101 Intake, and an Open Element Air Cleaner, so I guess I had 4 mods at the time.

Here is a vid of me taking out a built 72 Chevelle,
http://www.donpagevideo.com/video/Ze...s_Chevelle.mpg

I had the TPI setup on my car at that time,

With an aftermarket one, he would have to make up a new dash cluster panel, and I would wager that he would have pics up of it sience that would probably look pretty darn cool. I was thinking maybe he did the "well my speedometer is this far wrapped around so I -think- I am going X fast" thing, but those clusters have a needle stop on them from what I remember?

As far as the wing, yep, at least it is a RWD car.
Or maybe he was racing someone with a Speedometer that does go to 140mph and even though his was maxxed @ 110 the other driver was able to verify 140 mph. Not like people go out on the freeway and just go 140 for the heck of it. He was prolly racing someone dont you think? In fact I'm fairly certain he verified the speed racing his brothers 1985 mustang svo that I bought from him (his brother) that DOES have a 145 mph speedo, just not labeled past 85 (sneaky way to get around the laws in 85). And yes those cars can go over 140.

It was a stock 87 that was converted to a 90-92 Speed Density.
I used the 87 TPI heads, installed a Crane Cams PowerMax 2050 Camshaft, and a 52mm Throttlebody.
here is a vid of the car 2 days after the TPI swap was finished and the exhaust put on, http://www.donpagevideo.com/video/ZepherWS6.mpg

Thanks, but racing on the highway isn't very smart with traffic.
And all that smoke pouring out of my car was oil that was leaking from a bolt hole where the smog pump bracket was bolted and was burning up on the exhaust. I didn't put the bolt back in since I took the bracket off and had no idea that that was an oil passage. It only leaked at high RPMs. A friend of mine with a Monte Carlo SS told me about the bolt hole, so I put silicone on a bolt and put it into that hole. The fix was a little too late, my rod bearings had already started to go from lack of oil, and my piston rings were going bad from running way too rich for too long.
I hit a buck thirty on that run.

Just to get ya'll thinking that's the best stock spoiler for our cars. On a side note, they look great too.

You wouldn't be able to scan the pictures of the wing on a IROC would you? I would love to see it on a Camaro, but never have...
Yea that 92 bird did 200 MPH and they said the stock areo wing they had on there ( from a 90 car actualy ) was the best one they could have used for that kind of speed.

Now i have some things im wondering about. What 110mph speed limiter exhists on any third gens? did the vss cars have an electronic govenor? My 89 has been pegged (i have the 145mph speedo) and that was when i bought the car and it was stock. what mods would anyone "need" to do to get there?

my friends 91 305 Firebird had the 110mph limiter. I removed it for him since he went from a 2.73 geared rear to a 3.42 and the speedo would read 110 and the limiter would kick in and the actual speed of the car was 97 I think.

Oh, and the 92 Firebird with the 85-90 wing that I know of ran a best of 307mph.

i don't really care how functional that ugly *** wing is...doesn't matter to me if your doing 10 or 210, it's STILL fugly. If i find later that i need more stability than the excellent stability the stock spoilers already provide, i'll get the 5" spoiler copied off the 2nd gens. Never will my car see the day that crap is bolted to it....and redraif....your car is very red

Yea your right I remember now I don't know why I said 200 mph it was an average of 300 mph from both the runs from one part of the salt flats to the the other but one of those runs was the 307 mph run but they average it all out. Here is the car.

I can understand why you would associate that style wing with Imports, seeing as alot of them run wings like that. But by labeling it as an 'Import Thing' and throwing it out the window, I think you are making a mistake. Just for a monent, forget about the whole Import/Domestic thing. Check out some real race cars that are designed to go fast around turns. Look at Lemans cars, the Corvette C5R, or any GT racing car. You'll find that alot of them run that style of adjustable wing. It is a proven design for track racing. Sure there might be other types of wings out there, but each design has a purpose, and has been proven for different types of racing. Compare the wing on that top speed salt flat racer to the wing on alot of fast drag racing cars. That low, close to the body design has been proven good for going straight. The 'GT' style wing (like the one in the original pic) is a wing that has been proven good when racing on a roadcourse. In reality, a street car will rarely reach speeds where these kind of things become functional. But it dosnt mean that it never happens. And if someone does want to run a wing like this to help them for those small moments of high speed racing (be it on the freeway, or on the straightaway of a track), I dont see anything wrong with it. Of course the question of ... better performance at high speed (downforce) vs worse performance at lower speeds (drag) is a question. Its up to how the wing is adjusted. Since this post was started, Revlimit removed the wing and sold it to some other 3rd gen owner here on the island. So the legacy lives on lol. I dont know exactly why he sold it, but I think its because it was only usefull freeway racing and freeway racing will get you in alot of trouble.

Sorry for the vent. I just see alot of good stuff passed up by domestic car owners just because import owners do it too. Just because they do something dosnt mean its dumb. Are racing seats dumb? How about lowering the weight of your car? I can guarantee you, everything Import guys have done has also been done on a domestic (to some extent). Its just the nature of racing. It might look dumb on their car if its slow, but by getting caught up in the 'Thats an Import thing, I'd never do that' you might be preventing yourself from getting the best performance possible.
