All GTAs?

Did all GTAs have the special headrests? I can't really tell from this picture, but the person said it is a GTA

looks like a GTA, but you'll have to do your research. non-GTAs have fender vents just behind the front wheels, GTAs don't. that's the easiest way i tell. but for all of the ways to tell if it's a GTA or not, go to www.gtasourcepage.com and check around there. there's tons of good tips.

No, Its not a GTA.. If the car has NO power windows, power locks, No leather, a 305?? and a 5-speed? Looks like a Trans Am to me.. Since GTA is the more optioned model of the Trans Am, The one you have doesnt seem very optioned.

Im calling you on that. GTA's, like any other third gens, were available with option delets. I almost bought an 87 GTA with no power mirrors, locks, or windows, and no GTA seats. The origonal RPO label confirmed all this, including it being a true Y88 GTA.

Also, from what I can see, it has the GTA "Deluxe" door panels. Also has the GTA emblem in the steering wheel horn button, and GTA dash bag. Also take note that ALL NON-GTA Trans Ams has side fender louvers; this one doesent. Also, I have not seen any monochrome Gunmetal T/A's.. only GTA's. I would have to say that I really think it is a GTA. And BTW, the 305 lb9 WAS available in GTA's, with a 5 speed, or an auto aswell.

Also, the car is a repaint. You can see that the side door moldings are gone, as with the front buper emblem. This could be gone because the front bumper was replaced, and aftermarket bumpers do not come predrilled for this either. They are quite hard to find also, which might account for its absence.

While I know most of your info is nearly 100% dead on... to my knowledge, the GTA nose emblem is just stuck on, no holes are needed like a camaro emblem thus, no need for pre-drilled holes in the fascia.

yeah, what he said.

if the car seems to be in good shape, i'd say go for it. they're some bad @$$ cars, and you don't see them all too often (at least around my neck of the woods). good luck on it, and let us know how it goes.

you can add power locks and power windows for a few hundred dollars.

retrofitting air conditioning is not cheap and is an involved task since the dashboard will need to be removed to change out the heater box.

no need for power locks, power windows, and a/c. i wanna do some showroom/stock scca type races, so it just saves some weight even if it isnt that much. the car also has disc brakes all the way around, and some gtas ive seen have drums in the back. were 4 wheel discs rare at all for an 87?

wow im shocked.. I would think if you were going to buy a GTA New from the lot you would want all of the stuff that actually sets it apart from a regular Trans Am (350, Leather.. etc.. etc..) I guess some people buy cars for the emblems and door panels

Oh I didn't mean it in that way.. I know that the 5-speed couldnt handle the power of the 350 .. I meant it like I've never seen a 305 5-speed GTA. Around here they are all 350 700R4's

the rpo is y84, check to see if the "PONTIAC" lettering is gold on the left headlight, also check the rear center light piece to see if its gold. i doubt its a gta because all came with power locks, windows, mirrors and etc.

Nah, the GTA front emblem is held on by 2 bolts, along with adhesive.

ACTUALLY THE GTA FRONT EMBLEM IS HELD ON BY DOUBLE SIDED TAPE AND THERE IS A STUD THAT IS USED FOR POSITIONING.

ALSO YOU CAN CALL OR GO TO AN GM DEALER AND ASK FOR A PRINT OUT OF THE VIN. THAT WILL GIVE YOU EVERTHING THAT THE CAR CAME WITH, SUCH AS THE Y84 OPTION
