I just didnt like RED! Well I finally got around to taking pictures of my red to black interior change. last month I got a wild hair up my butt and decided to change my interior from red to black. It only took me about a week, I found all the pieces at the junk yard and online and actually did it for nothing cause I sold my red interior on EBAY and got all my money back and then some. I got all the panels and carpet for $100 and the black and gray seats for $150 all I need now are my new black floor mats, change the steering wheel and a B/M shifter, of yeah and get my windows tinted then the interior will suit me fine and I can start on some more power for the motor.

anyway check it out and let me know what you think. thanks

heres a before:

Awesome job! I'm not a big fan of the red interior either, probably would have done the same. The B&M megashifters really make the interior look sweet, if I ever get the car back together I could let you know how well they work.

I found them at a local junk yard. Power too!!!
The part that was faded black, I just went over them with some black fabric paint after taping off the grey parts. Turned out excellent..I think!

AWSOME! :hail:

I hate red interior. I had it in my 81 Trans Am.....awful color for an interior. Nice score on the seats. Did you buy new carpet or did you get a parts car with all the black pieces?

Nice work. Looks 300% better.

I got a set of camaro seats like yours only black and red. The drivers seat is faded. Was that fabric paint hard to use? Does it wear off on your clothes?

Nice work.

wow, im really impressed .... i think complete red interiors look cheesy too. I wanted to switch to grey cause black is harsh in the summertime when the tops are off.

but I guess ill just leave it ......

Damn, I'm f-ing jealous- nice job on the interior!

I like the red interior, too, but only on white Camaros. (Is that all it came in?)

And I'm f-ing jealous how you guys find 4th gen seats in junkyards. I've seen one 4th gen in a junkyard around NJ- and it was totally gutted; nothing useful left (except some screws, and a rear hatch plastic panel). Around here, the dealer-only auctions sell the wrecked 4th gens off to body shops, and they never touch the junkyards unless they're absolutely completely worthless.

Looks great. The only thing I would have changed is that the center of the seat white to match the car color. Still looks great, I was lucky with black int to start and yes it is hot in the summer!!!

Good job. I was thinking of doing the exact same thing to my seats. How much of a pain in the butt are they to remove and put back in???

The fabric paint was not hard to put on, its just like any other paint can. I just taped off the grey part of the seats with tape and plastic. make sure you cover the whole grey part or what ever part you dont want painted. OVER SPRAY!!!! will get on it.
As far as taking the seats out, thats a piece of cake. Just 4 bolts per seat.

Thanks guys for the compliments,,,,BLACK is so much better in my car than RED!!!

Thanks. Mucho props to Wishmaster's87IROC and his beautiful interior. But to those that drool, I'll be taking some good pictures tonight at the Houston Thirdgen Gathering along with some other cars and I'll post them all.

Is it a bird? yep. Here's some more interior.

I just thought i would throw this picture of my interior in. I liked the red carpet and doopanels in my car so i went ahead and bought new red carpet and cleaned everything up real nice. I also took the carpet off the side of the console also.

Nice job man, the new interior matches your white car a lot better. In reference to your B&M shifter, I have one and I absolutely love it. It really helps with racing and it just looks cool. When I went to the track the other day, I raced once shifting manually and once letting it shift by itself. Shifting manually improved my time by about two-tenths, and that was with a worse launch than my second run. You don't have to worry about accidentally missing a gear or (worse yet) shifting into neutral at a high RPM. You'll be very happy with it. Here's what mine looks like:

are the B&M shifters hard to install? is it just disconnect the old cables and just re-connect to new shifter?

my megashifter has been sold. All the sale-able 700r4 parts I had left were sold to fund the 6 speed swap.

The install requires a new shifter cable(included), replacing the shifter cable bracket on the trans, drilling a few holes for mounting some bracketry to hold the new shifter, cutting up the factory shifter wiring harness, and some other wiring, and cutting up your stock shifter plate to work with the new one.

The instructions are very good, and the only issue seems to be with the bracket on the trans which the shifter cable mounts on. They give you a choice of two holes, since each install can vary. I found that installing in one of the holes didn't allow the shifter to shift the trans all the way into park, and the other hole didn't allow me to shift the tranny into first. So I compromised and drilled another hole in the bracket between the original two, which did the job fine.

i missed that one in the last post. It comes with its own lightbulb, which you wire up during the install.
