4th gen steering column

Does anybody know if a 4th gen steering column will work in our cars? More specifically can you use some of the tilt parts from a 4th gen column to repair a 3rd gen unit? My 91' tilt column is shot ( the hard steel pins that hold the 2 parts together have worn out the aluminum housing ), I'm planning on adding a 4th gen leather wheel, so if I get fix my column at the same time that would be great.

my guess is that it wouldn't work (I dont know for sure). The 4th gen cars have rack n pinon don't they, so the collum past the firewall would be different.

If your car is newer than 88 you will also have to deal with the VATS system.

You would just have to compair the two. Have you tried tightening the screws down in the colum, they come lose often. Most of the time this will fix a tilt that is lose, my old one (it was busted when someone tried to still my car so I replaced it) came lose you could move the tilt a good 30 degrees, if you take the wheel of and the stuff behind the wheel they will be two screws down there you can tighten, the third one is inaccesable but the two will work just fine.
