Rust over the rear of the Windows....

I know officially have a hole over my driverside window area.... and much rust it looks like.... How in the world can I start to clean this up?? I've never done any body work before, so some general ideas would be fine Also, does anyone know how much that kinda stuff costs to get fixed properly at a body shop (General Price and the Labor Needed to fix it). I wanna know how to do it RIGHT. Regardless of the ammount of time and effort it takes. I'd prefer to do it myself if its at all possible, and am willing to accept the undertaking. But like I said, no experience leaves me with less then a great place to start Any help would be grately appreciated!

Well, I believe the right way to do this would be to weld a whole new top on your car using the factory welds. Howerver that is a lot of work and will cost way more than your car is worth. Here is what I would do, go get some 3M rust removing wheel from Walmart or wherever, it will take paint off too. Get the area around the rust too so you have bare betal all all sides. After you have gotten rid of all the rust(should just have your hole and some pitted metal left) use navel jelly to destroy/convert any remaining rust from the area. Spray the area with self etching primer or some spreay on rust stopper. Then get fiberglass and resin and patch the hole up from the inside using that. After that has cured fill the hole in with bondo, sand down all the extra and get it feathered. All that is left is getting it painted. Either do it yourself or take it to a shop.

I think this is pretty good, I am sure there are better ways to do it but that is how I would go about it.
