Custom Interiors anyone?

I have a custom headliner, but pics of it don't come out.... here's how it looks.
black felt attached to the board, and a fine blue mesh under( on top of you get it right) the black. attached around the edges, and at the dome light.
It has a cool 3D look to it because there is spacebetween the mesh and felt, leaving room for shadows etc. however my head bruses a little bit if i lean forward or spike my hair...
I originally tried to get the mesh to stick to the felt, but it fell a few days later, but looks better this way.
I plan to do the same to my Z, it should be easier and look better on the t-top headliner.
there are pics in the sig link under interior. But as i said, don't exactly show how it really looks, in person, you can see through to the black, and the blue is less solid. looks like blue spider webs almost.

89firechicken, the door panels are out of an 87, I have the exact same ones, only in black. I'm actually getting rid of them if your interested. I'm putting 4th gen door panels in, and have already relocated the door handles and lock.

How much did he offer you the t56 swap for and what are you getting for your money? What kind of mods are you doing to your car? I should get my dash out of a 2000 Trans Am in about another week or so. I'll post some pics when I get it all done.

the guy told me $400 for the whole setup plus a lt1 intake which from iv'e seen is a great deal. and my mods that i plan on doing right now i thinking about th motor but im going to go with a 360 mildly stroked sbc. aluminum block with trick flow heads i want to keep it smog legal so i want to use the lt1 intake. i already have a electromotive tec 2 unit which is bad *** but for cam grind not to sure but hopefully i can get this bird in the 12's n/a and smog legal thats my goal looking nice is always last.

Chances are the seats are from a 87 T/A or GTA, the pump has a date of 1987 or 1986 on it. I actually got them from an 83 T/A that had them.
The door panels are the standard flat style, and there sewn together. As for the yellow, welting, it happens to actually be vinyl, I really did not want to spend another $700 for what litttle yellow is there. Anyway, in order for the welting to fit properly under the door handle ploastic trim piece, and not break the trim piece, I had to take a small round file and make chanels where the welting goes under the piece.
Does that answer your question???

okfoz,
were those seats recovered? if so were you able to re-pack the seats where the foam was worn? I have heard a lot of speculation about this and was just curious if it can be done or not. any idea?

the guy that did mine, actually told me that they used steam to get the foam back to the correct shape. I do not know this for sure but its what he told me...
the guy that did mine was Ron Matta, he was owner of Aviation Creations, he has since moved and still has my leather steering wheel and shifter ****.

Yeah I tried to do mine like that, well to try to look like it was made that way. I just changed my panels from grey to black, I did a two tone look to match my 4th gen seats. You might remember it or not, it was like a year or two ago. Not too fancy, just alittle change. It use to be the all grey interior.

Center console and radio cover place is carbon fiber. The piping that looks orange is red string lights. Before you say anything, if If I can't get them red instead of orange, they will take a hike. Hate to do it. theuy look sweet at night, but its not enough to make up for the orange in the day!

Metalli....thanks for the compliments man.
Redraif...coming from you that makes me proud. Finally some decent recognition for the work that went into my doorpanels. BTW...you don't need black doorpanels, use your own and get them dyed.

Where did you get the Carbon Fiber console pieces? One day long ago I read your mods page (impressive, btw), but I don't remember you saying where you got them. Did they have a manual shift plate instead of the auto???

They're factory pieces covered with real carbon fiber by some friends at the airport...though we got enough extra material we're going to try it ourselves next time (answering for Redraif since she may not be able to for a few hours).

What my friends did is actually cover the existing plate in Carbon fiber. The carbon fiber is bonded to the old shift plate. So its truely a custom piece, not an aftermarket glued on piece.
Thanks! Oh & the mods page has grown since then.

You don't think you could get your friends to whip out a tech post on how to do that carbon fiber coating, could you?

It was done on equipment owned by one of the airlines, so the how-to wouldn't be as useful for a hobbyist. Here's a link to a site that tells you how to make your own carbon fiber panels

Carbon Components is pretty good as well. They made my dash panel for me. It is a solid piece so i was able to choose my own guage sizes. I have yet to install it due to the motor not being done but they back up their work and craftsmanship. It should not turn yellow on me and if it does they would just take it back! If you want, speak to Dave over there, he is a petty helpful guy. If you are looking into the whole dash kit, i would just buy one instead of going through the trouble of making one. There are tons of places to get a kit from, either in carbonfiber lamenet(fake), or the real deal. I believe for a whole kit it is like $300, i would think that is cheaper than making your own for the same exact sizes and pieces. good luck
