need help badly- How do you swap a power window assy. into a crank door?

ok im in the middle of restoring my 1985 iroc and i need a new drivers side door due to all the dents. i got one for a steal but its a crank door and i have power windows. how do you swap the power window assembly from my original door into the new door that has a crank setup? i have no idea where to even begin. i know im going to have to cut some rivets, but i dont want to start butchering metal until i check with you guys. thanks

I want to say you don't have to. I thought the door already had/has the holes for the rivets there. Maybe someone else konws for sure.

no i mean i know you have to cut some rivets to get the crank assembly out and the motor assembly out of the bad door. i just want to know the steps and if it requires taking out the window or not.

Knock the centers out of the big rivits and then knock them sideways (off) with a chizel. The regulator falls out.

You should do this before you put it on the car so the window glass in/out will be easier. It won't scrape the A- pillar.

You should put the same style rivits back in. BIG gun needed for them however. Bolts can/will interfere with the glass, door panel, and usually loosen up in time.

The tech article might help a little too. Its not about converting from manual to power I don't think, but you still might be able to find some helpful information

Power Windows Tech Article

Good luck
