Dammn Rust!!!! I hate it!
Here's where I cut out the rust on my driverside wheel well.
I'm probably gonna mig weld some sheet metal over it but the rust on the battery tray and the radiator support are bad but I'm currently taking care of it.
Anyone else got this problem that they are taking care of?
Dammn rust.

por15 bro. stops oxygen from interacting with metal. no more rusting. but it wont fix whats already rusted. fix what you can and por15 over the insides, paint over the outsides. i have a rust problem with my 90 RS as well. on the roof right behind the t-tops on the pass side. it has rusted through. after removing the headliner i could see the entire underside was rusting as well (over the rear seats). plan to use a BFH and a dremel tool to knock all the rust out. will be welding a plate in place of the hole. from the underside i plan to por15 the entire thing. then repaint the top and install new headliner for the inside. body structure will be weaker than when it was stock. and its a t-top. but what can i do right? seriously considering a rollcage.

Ya I've heard alot of good things about POR15 but can I put it over pitted metal(really porous rust)?
You can put it over anything. Ed (suspension guy) uses it on his rearend and suspension pieces. Pretty good idea actually. You can put it on pitted metal and it will stop the rust. It coats over the pieces and makes it impossible for oxygen to touch metal, thus making rust impossible. It sprays on so you can hit all the nooks and crannys. But it wont make up for any loss of a parts strength. It will only stop rust. If the parts you are fixing dont experience any force then it shouldn't be a problem. If the parts have alot of force exerted on them, and the rust weakened the part, then they can still break even if you POR15 it. I guess what I'm saying is that POR15 is good at stopping rust, but to make something as strong as it was before the rust started, then you need to weld. It depends on the part. For the stuff you're fixing, I say POR15 it all. If the battery tray for instance still holds the battery up, then spray it and put it back. But if its rusted out and can no longer support the battery, then you need a new one. This is why I'm concerned about the structure of my RS even after I weld and POR15 it.
