CARGO COVER INSTALL
I just placed it right up behind the back seat and left a quarter inch gap and got a piece of thin aluminum 2"x4" inches and cut it in half and cut out the "U" shapes for the edges of the cargo cover
and used 3/4 inch screws, (3) each per mounting brackett and don't forget the trunk mount piece will have to be replaced to extend the cover in place when finished ,It only took me like 15 minutes to install with a drill and cordless screwdriver and some additional velcro for the outter edges never hurts but it keeps the cover in place so when you close the trunk it will not unhook and retract on you when you're driving!

Ok. The end retainers I have looks like a hole has to be cut in the current panels. Thats why I was wanting exact location. These panels are big, and I know will be hard and expensive to find if I fubar one.
Thanks for the into.

I also got the retainers as well but I found that steel supports would aslo have to be welded into place from inside the steel housing of the said vehicle and that mean also cutting the paneling too but those are the options you got to work with and welding is costly too and if there is a short cut way that is inexpensive go for it!...hell ya only live once!

Hey guys, I got a cover too and was wondering how I was going to install it I know that the factory supports are welded to the body I think that if I put a piece of metal behind the holder it shoud hold. Can either one of you tell me where to get the piece that goes on the hatch lid that hold the two hooks of the cover?

For one thing, in my interior trim panels there was a template for where to cut the hole... BUT you have to remove them to get to them to cut them out... MATTER OF FACT, they are keyed in a certain way to make sure you line them up properly if I remember right.
I had to fab some brackets, and screw them to the car, and then I just re-assembled everything back together and then took the screws I got from the salvage yard to the bracket, worked like a charm the first time...

correct, I took some sheet metal. The car that I snagged the cover from I measured the approximate size and location the depth that I would need, and on the bottom I made some flanges, and used some self-drilling & tapping screws, used my handy dandy cordless drill and went to town.
You DO NOT NEED TO WELD THEM IN... Use Screws, they are fine...
When I put everything back together it fit perfect, no one can tell that I put it in, especially with the trim pieces...
I used a VERY sharp utiliy knife/razor blade to cut it out.. just be careful... removing more is easy, putting back is hard.

one MORE thing attach the brackets to the car (screw them to the chasis)
AFTER you cut out the holes in the trim pieces put them back on the car assemble everything to make sure you get a good fit..
then use your interior trim to align the holders and then you will not need to worry about alignment when you screw the holders to the bracket...
does that mae sence?

where did you get these roll up cargo covers from and where can i find one in desperate need of one You can buy NEW from classicindustries.com tho Your looking at about 150-200 tho for all of the parts...
REMEMBER TO GET THE TRIM PIECE FROM THE HATCH IT HAS A METAL BRACKET TO ATTACH THE SHADE TO THE HATCH
IF you decide to be rich, and buy from Classic Industries, they only have them listed in the Camaro Book and not the fireird book... but Camaro and Firebird shades are IDENTICAL...

you have to fab it, unless you happen to get a piece from a hatch that is the same color as your interior... the piece is basically the same as the non-shade type but there are 2 slots, and a metal bracket behind it that you attach the shade to.

I think it was riveted to the trim panel, I THINK... have to look...
you MIGHT be able to fab a metal piece, but if you score one in a salvage yard just get the piece it will save you some work...
