I am pretty sure that they are not interchangable since the places that sell them have 82-92 and 93+ listings, but I could be wrong.

Yeah I figured that but Ia lways see 4th gen going for so cheap I figured itw as worth a try. What all is interchangeable? I am putting a 4th gen backseat and maybe a console for sure in mine..I would like see a 98-02 ss wing on a 3rd gen to see what it is like..

Ok, here is a small list that I know are interchangable since I've done it,
Lower Control Arms
Panhard Bar
Rear Sway Bar
Rear Sway Bar Endlinks
Driveshaft
Exhaust CatBacks
Rear End
Rear Springs
Seats
Center Console (Direct Bolt in if you have a Firebird)
Rear Shocks
Steering Wheel
Wheels with appropriate adaptors
And I think that is about it.

Well, I was talking about bolt on's with no mods.

A 4th gen spoiler off of a 4th gen won't fit perfectly, you need to do something about the two center pillars that don't meet up to the hatch on our cars.
The 4th gen mirrors require some cutting and drilling to get them to mount, but from what Shannon told me, it's not all that hard.

LT1 is a drop in if you don't have the A/C, wiring shouldn't be too much hassle.

LS1 front brakes can be used as well, just some drilling and cutting to get them on. This is an overall good upgrade for the 3rd gens.

The mirrors were easy...made a template, marked three holes, drilled them, and dremeled out the center. Took a couple hours the first time, most was spent making the template and doing the first one. We could do it again in probably 15 minutes. The only part thats halfway tough is welding up the holes in the door for the old mirrors. My 85 is getting this mod, and Shannon's 82 probably will also.

BTW 4th gen interior mirrors are another easy upgrade (lighted), as well as the gas tank (late ones are plastic).

To answer the original question ... NO! Although the rear suspension is identical, the front suspension (and sub frame) is completely different. On thirdgens, the front sub frames angle in toward the tranny, next to the cat location. On fourth gen, the sub frames are straight out. You would have to modify the sub-frame connectors severly to get them to work. Cost less to get '82-'92 connectors.
