?'s about POR-15 and floorpan
I was painting my floorpan today and it looks pretty decent.
Should one coat be fine? I was able to use one of the small cans to do the entire pass side and most of the tranny tunnel.
I'll have some pics tomorrow, got too dark to see anything and the pics would have been bad.

I couldn't get some of the padding off of the floorpan, so I painted around it. The glue was so strong.

I did that to my firebird. My floor looked the about the same on the passenger, but it had holes on the drivers side.
I used Rust coat.
Its pretty much the same idea, I took a wire wheel on a grinder cleaned up the rust, and applied one thick coat of the paint, let it dry, then bought a 1Litre can of rustcheck, and applied a lay of that to the whole floor, then put the foam stuff back over top.
I was hoping that it would slow down the future rust from the inside of the car.

Zepher where did you get por 15 from? and are you going to do the underside of the car? I just pulled up my carpet to. didnt like the what I found.

do u guys figure its worth it to replace the floor, i have no holes but its rusty looking, ure right about the t tops i have 4 f bodys, 2 hard top 2 t tops, i check all and I found more rust on the t top floors, and almost nothing on the hard tops

The trick to whether or not to replace the floorpans is the extent of the rust damage.. Is is just surface? With the carpet up poke at the rust with a metal tool (screwdriver) and test to see if it is hiding any damage that goes straight through the floor pan.. Lift up the car and look at the underneath of the floorboards..
IF the rust is just surface rust, get some POR 15 a wire brush and go to work.. you can get enough for the entire floor area for less than thirty bucks and it is good insurance.. Replacing the floor pan is simply adding work, don't borrow trouble. IF the rust penetrates all the way through, then that is decision time.. POR 15 sells kits that can repair rust penetrated areas like trunks and floor pans, which are a viable option for minor problems.. if their are some major problems, cover it all up until you have enough money to replace the floorpan with a replacement from classic industries or some other vendor...

Holes are best filled by replacing the metal with a patch or a floorpan, but small stuff can be repaired with fiberglass matting and resin. Its strong, and can be undercoated over on the bottom so the repair isn't obvious. Its not the best way to do it, but it'll get the job done if you don't have a welder.

i have a welder so thats not a problem or nothing, i only have a little hole on the drivers side about the size of the dime, so no big deal, what do u guys figure is the best for doing the underside of the car, i thought about undercoating but i want somthing thats going to stay on the metal and not be sticky, black is a prefered color.
