Installing hood pins

On my way to Moroso last weekend I noticed my hood shaking and lifting a little bit.. (i'm sure it was from the 120+ mph i was doing to cut down the time ) to get to the point, i want to put some hood pins on, how did you guys mark where the holes should be? i'm planing on puting the pins in and puting a little paint on the tips to mark the under side of the hood to drill. any one have some other or better way they know of?

i've got some holes next to the rubber things, not sure what they were really for but they are in the perfect locations i was really just woundering if there where any other known ways to mark where to drill the holes in the hood.. seems like its been a pretty long time sence you broke your keyboard, isn't it time for a new one? it's only like $10..

This is the easiest way to make sure the holes line up.

Place your hood pins in the engine bay, where you would like them placed. Take some double sided tape to temporarily hold em in place after you measure to be sure where they will be placed.

When you have the pins secured to the location you want, take some lipstick (i know, i know...just borrow your girlfriends!) or some axle grease and put a big glob of it on the top of the pins.

GENTLY lower your hood and make sure it makes contact with the pins. When you raise the hood, the big glob will be transferred onto your hood. Then drill her out!

I always drill a small hole first, then lower the hood to make sure the alignment is dead on...then drill to the proper size. Use a higher speed drill with moderate pressure to avoid mis-shaping the area.

Hope that helps.

i used the method you are talking about. instead of paint, i used grease. then drilled a very small hole. the i increase the size of the hole with bigger drill bits. once i got the desired size hole i lowered the hood to check the fit. from there i had to do a little bit if filing and the everything looked good.

Anyone have a problem with rusting? I was told that the hole might rust where you drilled it. Any ideas?
