Lighted *****

One thing I don't like about driving around at night in my '89, is that it is so dark inside. Does anybody know of a source for lighted switches & *****? Like for the power windows switch, hatch switch, cigarette lighter ****, ash tray area, etc...

You might consider white-faced gauges and/or replacing all interior bulbs with xenon high-intensity 194s. The difference, even with simply swapping bulbs, is significant.

Good idea on the zenon 194's. I've also thought about replacing the 194's with those super bright white LED's.

I've found a few "illuminated cigarette lighter" on the internet as well. I guess I need to browsing around a late-model junkyard to see what I can find.

Tell me about the Zenon 194's.
Are 194's the small interior lights found in most domestic cars used to illuminate the dash, instruments, cig lighter, etc...?
If so, are these zenon ones much brighter?
Just replace and go?
How much are they in comparison to the regular 194's in price?
Where can I buy? In Canada?

Thx, Pacer

Are there any white Xenon bulbs? So far I've only been able to find red and blue... Probably going with super bright LED 194's is the better way to go?

Try the McEwen web site (one of our sponsors for the bulbs) for price and availibity. I put the bulbs--which are direct replacement 194s and which come in colors to include clear--in my cluster, the HVAC controls, and my console clock. I would guess that the bulbs are double the brightness of stock. Should you replace bulbs and do as I did below, you may be forced to turn down the illumination. My advice is to start with paint.

Bubb,

The dimmer will still work. I have no experience with the blue bulbs or their prices. As I recall, the web site offers advices on the number of bulbs--or at least it used to. I believe, if I remember correctly, that I used eleven in the cluster.
