Best place to tow from

Hello, I'm not sure if this belongs here but, I'll give it a shot anyway. I've been given a Camaro that doesn't run (well it runs, but thats another thread), and it needs to be towed over to my house. My question is, what/where is the best place to hook a tow chain on to the front end? I know there aren't many good places on my moms fourth gen, and it's been about a year since I've been under a third gen. The car is either an 84 or 85 (owner wasn't specific), if that matters. Thanks in advance.

ummm......are you taking about flat towing it on the ground? i wouldnt do that. your best bet would be to get a tow dolly from a place like u-haul. i know your suppose to remove the rear drive shaft, but if your not towing it to far i wouldnt bother.

if your not towing it too far get a heavy tow rope and tie it around the alternator or a/c braket. just make shure if u do it this way that your be very caustions not to jerk the rope too much casue u will bend the braket. just use common sence and u should be alright.

eh, take my advice, don't try to use the bracket for the hood latch, it doesn't work for long. on the downside, it ripped through my bumper cover and cracked both headlight mounts, on the upside, the damn thing weighed 8 pounds....and you can't get weight off thats much closer to the front of the car than that Needed an excuse to buy a cowl hood and pins for the corners anyway...

Car: To many to list
Pay a towing company with a rollback or get a trailer and do it right.Unless you are only going a few hundred feet or so with it.How far do you have to go?And when I strap one down on a trailer I use the rear and the front crossmember for strapping points.

Well, there are holes in the frame to put hooks, but the steel isn't all that strong and if you pull too hard it will start to tear. Mine had that done to it, not by that guy in the pic, he was the one that pointed it out to me.

Kandied91Z when I put mine on the trailer I use the oblong slots on the front of each frame rail. I take the one from the front right of the car to the front left of the trailer and vice versa for the other side. On the back I use and axle strap and take the tie downs cross ways again. Seems to work good for me. I use the 2" wide 10,000 lb straps with good sized ratchets.

Thanks for the replies every one. The distance is about 20 miles, so I guess I should pay a towing company to do it. Thanks again.
