Exellent workmanship Tim. Really, that must have taken a good amount of work. Gotta love those sticky sheets plastic for the carpets too, I love that stuff! What made you decide to change from the Tan interior set up you had?? Just curious.

Keiran

PS: Do the air bags actually work??? Well are they suppose to work?

I'm sorry it was white. The one pic I saw it looked tan for some reason, or maybe my monitor need to be cleaned. LOL!

Air bags work too, sweet. You do great work Tim! Do you do this for a living I take it, or A beloved hobby?

Very impressive. Your interior is a perfect example of a modification that could have been stock if the GM designers had a personality. I see so many modifications and 99.9% of them make me cringe. Yours are some of the very few that really add to what the factory appearance had to offer instead of try to completely change it.

Looks good, I never cared for the 4th then wheel because I used to have to drive a montana with the same wheel.

Yes very nice work!! Gets me excited when I look at your interior ... cant wait to get started on the interior of my 91. I will be doing a T/A interior instead of a Camaro interior though. I'm still interested in how you relocated the handle and retained the factory appearance on the door panels, but hey we all got our custom mod secrets right? hehe. I have an idea of how I am gonna do my door panel handles but it seems a little crazy. I'm planning on converting everything to electrical using AutoLoc components. I'll see how it goes.

I too am interested in some information on how you fabricated the door panels. They look great. Do you have a web page that has info on your mods?

The door switches and handles were from 4th gen. The rest was hand built. I used the original 3rd gen doorskin as a template. I cut the shape out of doorskin material I got at Home Depot. I built up the area around the switches with MDF board. This material smoothes and sands very easily. I used bondo to make the exact shape I wanted. I used contact cement and wrapped it in vinyl. The arm rest was built from MDF and a portion of the original 4th gen. I also used bondo to shape it up. This was covered in 1 piece of vinyl and screwed in from the back of the panel. Basically I used the shape of the old and incorporated the new. You can make the panels any shape you want. Hope this helps. Sorry no website.

The red and white were painted first. Then the flames were laid out in tape on one half of the car. Then the tape lines were traced and a pounce wheel was used on the traces lines. You flip the paper pattern over, then use a chalk bag to pounce the flames onto the other side of the car so you have a mirrored image on the other side. You complete the tapeing process and paint. The white to yellow fade was added first then hilighted with the orange. Then the flames were outlined in green. Then you clear.

what is hvac??????

Let me say this again..... EVERYTHING in the car works because everything is 4th gen to 4th gen. Nothing mechanical or electrical is 3rd gen anymore.

I think he explained it (inside flames) a few posts up. That whole piece on the doorpanel above the handle with the flames on it was custom made (I think). Very nice craftsmanship. Another method of creating interior flames is to make flame cutouts from strafoam with an exacto knife and use a hairdryer to mold tweed fabric over the design and onto the panel. Learned that from some mini-truckers.

Hey Tim, I noticed in your sig that you have Z06 rims on that nice thirdgen of yours. Would you mind posting a full pic of it? I haven't those rims on a thirdgen yet....

Thanks

Everyone envy's Fatal's car. - It's beautiful.

I was wondering if anyone has done the 4th gen dash swap and hooked up the hvac? That would be that you did the dash swap only, not the whole clip and firewall redo. I'm going to attempt a 95 bird dash and console into my 89 GTA. I've got the factory rounded, more deluxe style door cards, so I'm gonna stick w/ them. Living down here in Florida I would never think of anything even once a year drivin on the street w/o A/C. The humidity down here kills! I ride top down, max air everywhere. - Anyhow, I was just wondering if anyone has done it or if I'm going to be the pioneer.

thanks,

later, justin...

I am planning on hooking up the HVAC when I do my swap. I am not quite sure how, just that I will do it.

This post has been dug out of a grave While its up here I might as well ask a question that has been bugging me.

The Automatic console, did you have to move the shifter location to make it work? Or.. is my theory correct in that the thirdgen dash makes the console sit farther back than what it should, so instead of moving the shifter back 3 inches, you move the console forward 3 inches.

ok...

what is MDF? lol... and, i searched bondo, a buncha stuff came up... so.. what, the adhesive? or... what? and what exactly did you use the contact cement for? like, an outerlaying before the vinyl, or to glue the vinyl to the bondo?

confused... i see what you mean w/ some of the stuff, but not w/ others. heh.

MDF = Medium Density Fiberboard.

It's wood-ish, but better.
