Does anyone know the size box that the B&M Megashifter comes in? I got a gift under the tree that I'm dying to try to find out what it is. Thanks

Thanks for the help. Some of that it funny.

Bubba- that's pretty smart however I don't know her password. Have you found anything??

I know so far that I have 14 X 3 open element and 2 CD's. I measured the box and got 14.4" by 3.5" and there is a metallic sound. :lala:

And yes I can wait- 9 days is a long time to wait for a Megashifter!!! I've always wanted one!!

A mega shifter would be a great gift...

Your lucky my dad bought me one car when I was 16 with a set budget of $1800.

Any and all parts I wanted/needed after that I had to buy myself lol

My mama did get me a chrome chain tag frame when I was 17 though

Now at 21 years old I can see why they did'nt buy me the parts I wanted and i'm glad they did'nt. It really was a leason in life that showed me you don't always get what you want and if you do then you had to get the your self..

Cause of that leason I now own 2 cars, 1 truck, have the skill to do anything when it comes to cars, build race engines for a living, and have enough spare parts to put together atleast 2 or 3 whole cars lmao.

But anyway sorry for getting off the post.....just kinda venting...

I Hope that is a mega shifter, you'll love it man.

dude if you still have time, tell your mom you want the hurst dual gate shifter, those things rule! i had a b&m shifter and wasnt too impressed with it, switched to the hurst and man what a difference, the thing looks so perfect in the car it actually looks stock. anyhow you will definetly be happy with the open element, i love mine! it sounds sweet and i felt a pretty decent pickup of aceleration after i installed it. i think for christmas im getting some headers for my ride, all i can about that is "delicious!"

Night rider327- don't get me wrong man- I'm paying for my car by myself $3650, I got a loan by myself. I got a CD (certificate of deposite) for 1K, I pay my own insurance. I buy all my own stuff. I've worked for 3 years (since I was 14) to get a sweet car-- and right now I got a sweet car!! I'm not reamin' on you I just don't want to look like one of those spoiled kids that have nice cars- don't work- and don't even have to pay for their own gas

I still can't tell what I got. I do want a pair of headers-- like someone else:hail:

Yea I can't wait to get that open element installed and hear the difference!

I'll keep ya posted LOL :lala:

tyty49.... sorry bud if I made it sound like I was comeing down on you... I wasnt tryin to do that at all, just venting about my messed up childhood lol.

Anyway. The mega shifter is great. When I had my 84 camaro when I was 17, I put one in it. After I junked the car I custom fitted that same shifter into the 73 chevy truck I was building..

If the 88 camaro I just bought did'nt have a pro stick in it I would put the mega in...

That open air cleaner should help you alot too. I never have ran a stock one. I always put a chrome 10'' round open one on with a 3-6'' tall filter.

In my 84 camaro I used a pro stock hood scoop and a 3'' K&N filter (only 10'' dia. filter that I could find that they sell is the 3'' tall one made oem for a dodge 318 from the mid 70's)

In my truck I stacked two 3'' units and sealed em together with RTV black along with a pro stock hood scoop

with me my old man knew I was'nt gonna street race. I was brought up around the dragstrip.

If you talk to any ture drag racer, they will tell you keep it on the track, you don't prove a thing by street racing, all you get if your lucky is the fact you can say I beat that car,

if not lucky you can go around with a light wallet (fines), go to jail, or worst yet the grave yard.. You may have to live the rest of your life with a bad feeling that you killed a middle aged woman and her 8 mo. old baby, while they was heading to the hosp. you was racing and lost it or they pulled out in front of you and you couldnt stop. That may never happen but then again it might.

On the track you do it safe, the tech looks your car over to make sure its safe to race, nobody will be walking or pullin out in front of you, a crew will be there in case something goes wrong, and at the end of the race you get 2 things
1) the fact you can say you beat that car and
2) a time slip proveing you did, and showing in real life what your car can do.

I know this post aint about street racing, sorry about gettin off from the org. post. It's something I feel strong about though.

Yes when I was 16 I did street race some, but only 4 times total, most of my racing then was done at the track with about 600 passes total back when I was younger, now ALL my racing is done at the track. It aint worth it to street race

personally i love street racing, i know its very dangerous and illegal, but there is just something about going out their on the open roads and picking car fights with whoever it might be, puts chills in my spine. however the problem is that at least around here, all the drag stripes are closing down so i almost have to stick with street racing. any other feelings from others?

5.7Camaroboy...

Yeah thats drag racing but in a bracket class. In bracket racing it makes it easier for the little guy to win a few rounds. Say a car with a 16 sec dail is running a 10 sec dailed car, well the 16 sec car has a 6 sec head start, so if he gets a better jump out of the hole he can win, if both cars ran the numbers they say, and have the same R/T , then they would both cross the taps at the same time. Been at the dragstrip almost every weekend for 10 years and NEVER seen that happen lol

Now in heads up class, both cars leaves the lights at the same time and who ever has the fastest car wins

heh, try not to laugh too much, but, since i'm a pack rat, i found my box and measured it, the catch is that i couldn't find a ruler or tape measure, so i measured it in pepsi cans, the height, not the diameter of them, so without further delay...
1.5 deep
2.4 tall
2.6 wide
as ******* as that is, i hope it helps some.

Well I didn't get the Megashifter

Thanks fine I did get a bunch of tools and a open element 14X3.. MAN o MAN does that make a HUGE difference. That should be anyone's first mod.

SLOWFIVEOH, I also got a new windshiled I bought the car with a carcked one. But the insurance company doesent know that :lala:

89transam, Are you installing them or having someone do it for you. Can I ask how much they are charging? I can't wait to buy some. I just started work yesterday at a pretty high paying job (for around here anyway) so on the the SFC, POSI.

tyty49... Not dealing with sub frame conn., but I called a few pro welders around my town to come and finish weld my 14 point cage in my 78 after I cut, fit, and tack weld it in place, and I found a few that told me $35 an hour for gas mig welding if they come out to my house, or $30 an hour if I can take it to them.

So you might wanna call some welders in your town and see what they charge.
