4th gen console w/ B&M shifter?

Is there anybody that makes a plate to fit the 4th gen console that allows the use of the b&m megashifter? I love the 4th gen interior and really want to swap mine out, but if i'd have to lose my shifter, it's not worth it.

You actually can't see any of the grinding once the boot is on. By the way, you'll need to modify the leather boot a bit as well to get it around the thicker "shaft" of the Megashifter. I'm going to have a larger one made soon.

Now I always though that ya it would look kinda high with the fourth gen console but what if you did not use those 2 brackets and bolted the shifter right to the floor so it would be lower with the 4th gen console? I was thinking of trying it when I got a console but did not wont to get one if I had to lose the megashifter.

Nice pictures Scauffiel! Any more, maybe where the boot meets the top of the shifter? Also, what car did that console come from? Firebird M6? Should i go with the manual console and then use that same boot that came with it? Or should i try an auto console and get a boot from a manual? Looks easier to go with the Manual one. Thanks for your time and once again, i think that looks great! Later

Hey guys; the console is from a manual shifting Trans Am, IIRC it was a 2000. The problem with the boot is that it's too narrow up around the neck where it has to wrap around the shifter - there's just not enough leather to make it all the way around. (IROCNJ - I'm not clear on what you want pix of - lemme know if you mean the actual part that is tight, or what and I can get you some).

V6CamaroMan - I've got Autometer Oil pressure, Oil temp, Trans Temp, and Water temp up there in my RA II hood. There's more at my site under "Appearance -> Cowl Gauges" if you'd like to see more.

Timbo - I'm not sure. I haven't looked at it in so long that I just don't know. One of my winter projects is to replace my stereo and re-wire my window switches so I'll take a look at that time. If that's the case I'll be pissed because I cut up my console! Aieeeeeee!

Hey, thanks for taking the time out for me! I checked out your site before asking for any pictures hoping to see what i was looking for. I really like what you have done with the car so far, nice, neat, and clean IMO! Any idea of what color you want to paint it? Anyway, i was looking for pictures of where the top of the boot meets the mega shifter. If you have them that would be great! From your pictures so far, it looks like i would be better off with a manual console. Thanks for your help and time so far-Bryan

No problem Bryan, I'll get you some pix tonight and post them tomorrow or the next day. If you don't hear from me in the next couple of days email me to remind my forgettin-@ss.

Steve

PS: She'll eventually be painted pearl white with ghost flames.

FYI - IF your using a 4th gen console , a B&M hammer shifter would be a much better choice . Its alot lower profile than the megashifter , and it functions exactly the same . No mods to the console at all in my car for the shifter

Alot easier to get the boot on to cause the stick is round up top and not a HUGE square .

That looks pretty clean man! I like that one too. Thanks for posting it. Now i have a couple of questions for you too. What year/make console did you use and does your dash work? Looks good and i really can't figure out if its your '90 or a 4th gen! Also, do you have any pictures of the whole interior you wouldn't mind posting? Thanks again, and any other info from anyone else would be cool. Later and Happy New Year-Bryan

That is from my 95 Trans Am . The whole concept would be the same for any third gen guy using a 4th gen console . My console is the factory 95 console , used from 93-96 .

Nice looking car you have there. What all are you doing to it? If you don't mind me asking. What trans did you switch to, the turbo 400 conversion? Looks good so far, thanks for the info too.
