<>>>> Theoretical Ideas for Mounting Cowl Hood Scoop <<<<>

Here are a couple ideas that me and a buddy thought of when mounting my cowl scoop to the hood. Here it is:

On the inside of the scoop (with clean surfaces everywhere of course) spray it with a coat of primer, then follow with a coat of under-body coating, then follow with a some expanding foam. This is to prevent water from building up in the fiberglass.
So what do yall guys think, would all of the water proofing help prevent water from building and seeping between the hood and scoop? I have seen cowl hood scoops that have (I guess) had water sitting in the bottom of them for a long time and the water eventually leeked out, which is not pretty.
Thanks
Brady

for your purpose- i would just buy a cowl hood

the scoop is basically to cut your actually hood for more clearance and attach the cowl with either rivets or a bonding agent- more of a race car kinda thing

The way my mine was installed:
sanded to bare metal, bead of urethane laid around the perimeter where the cowl would sit, then rivited, fiberglassed, and bondoed.
Kinda ****ty pic but u get the idea, I don't think water anywhere will be an issue once she's all done.

If ya know anybody lookin for cheap cowl's I still got the guy's E-mail that I bought this one from, mines a short 4", but he also had a long 2" that would blend well with a factory camero or non GTA hood $75 is what he charges and the guy that put it on was impressed with the out of box fit so I'd say that's a good thing. I needed the full 4" for my set-up though.
