t-top prob
t-top prob
I recently purchased an 87 GTA that came with t-tops, but I found out my t-tops are aftermarket and installed by a bodyshop called "Roman Chariot" in Cleveland, OH. I found out recently that many dealers sent out their "new cars" to aftermarket bodyshops to install t-tops sold/made by a company called "Cars and Concepts". They are a bit different than the factory installed t-tops. I was told that this company also produced the original t-tops for GM.
Unfortunately, this company is no longer in business, so I am having a hard time finding molding, rubber, etc. My t-tops look pretty close to the originals except I have ouside molding on both the front and back going across the car (left to right) on the outside of the car. Does anyone else out there have this type of a t-top? Is there a company out there selling something identical? I checked with a couple of dealerships that knew squat about this. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Surprisingly enough, no-one has chimed in to tell you to do a search, as this topic pops up now and again. http://www.sunroofdoctor.com/ has posted on their website that they purchased the last remaining C&C inventory, and they have the entire kit to convert a car to t-tops as well. HTH!
I did a search under "t-tops" and found 50,000,000 topics on t-tops (mild exaggeration). I went thru about 3 or 4 pages of t-top stuff before giving up.
Thanks for the posting. I will definitely check it out.

From what I've found the easiest way is to measure the glass length from front to back. C&C are 28" while the GM Fishers are 30 1/4". C&C also have an outside front and back moulding that goes across from left to right. I ordered some headliner locking moldings today along with a cap from the "sunroofdoctor". not expensive at all - quite impressed. I spoke to them for about a half an hour and now I'm an expert.
Thanks cg91ta for the lead. I knew I came to the right place.

You can tell factory from aftermarket just by looking at them.
When looking at the car the gap between the windshield and the T-top is about the same as the Door "A" Pillar then they are FACTORY t-tops.
IF the gap between the windshield and the T-top is about TWICE as wide as the "A" Pillar then you have the C&C top.

I never did think that mine were aftermarket, but then i read this post and it scared me. any way, mine is about as far away as the a-piller, and they are about 29" wide. But im pritty sure that they are factory. About the molding, do you meen that the molding on the front and back on aftermarket goes all the way across the top of the car?
Thanks for the help,
Ryan

C&C tee tops have writing on the inside rear corners of the glass. They do have a little weatherstipping on the front and rear of the tee tops that run from one side of the car to the other. It took me nearly a year to get that little bit of weatherstripping over here in Aus. I used a small piece of rubber until I got the correct pieces. Mother of inventions.
bjm323 - never said Roman Chariot was out of business. What I was talking about was "Cars and Concepts".
Good news - I was told by a Pontiac dealership that the aftermarket C&C t-tops actually leak less than the factory ones. Actually, mine don't leak at all.
I'm pretty happy that the sunroof doctor had my parts.

My C&C tops only leak a little when using the high pressure at the car wash. I put new weatherstrips on 3 years ago.
