90...........the way I did mine on my Firebird was this.......take a pole and hold the rear hatch up with it to support it and your not holding it up....take off the rear ones first and let them down so no weight is on them....torque or star socket for the ones behind the seats with a 1/2 breaker bar.....once they have broken loose just use a regular wratchet to take them off........installation is reverse....shouldnt be no problem with it..just take your time doing it...........good luck.....

They use torx/star or tamper proof bits to take them off. Just be sure to have somebody holding the hatch or leave it closed when taking them off and putting the new ones on.

the size i believe is a T-50 torx bit, sears sells them. craftsman makes them...stock #42667...if they don't have any, you are going to have to by 'leslie' brand.

I think it's actually a T43. But it may be a T50. I have the exact one at my house. I'll have to look at it later.

BTW a hockey stick without the blade on it works perfectly to hold up the rear hatch.

what thirdgen owner doesn't have "The Stick"

btw it works much better, if you take one shock off, then put the new one on, then take the other off.

it can turn into a PITA if you take both off.

Dont have the hatch closed or you'll get one hell of a suprize when the shaft fully extends it'll, unless you have the shock fully extended already. Lol I need to get new shocks for my hood and hatch.

just get your self an extra set of hands to hold up on the hatch's other side when you are replacing one of the shocks. It would put a lot less stress on the hatch if you have someone hold it up rather than letting one side hold up the whole hatch.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh. Yes the " Stick " is a wonderful item to have when working on the hood and rear hatch, especially when you dont have that extra set of hands to hold it up.............just make sure you apply some grease on the threads before you put it back on to help ease removal next time.......... :lala: :lala: :lala:

of course i found a pair of vice grips much easier than the stick (you just clamp it on the stock :-D
