fabrication???

Has anyone tried to make their own hood??? I've got a stock hood with the louvers in it and I wanna get a cowl. The only problem is nobody makes a cowl I like. So here's my idea. Take the stock bracing off and use it as bracing for the fiberglass top. Would it work, can it be done??? Better yet has anyone tried?? Please help otherwise I may just fill the indents and cut a hole for a second gen T/A Shaker.

yes,but youre looking at alot of time and labor.the stock underlay wouldnt hold the weight of a fabricated overlay, weld in supports would be needed.

are you saying that the factory steel bracing won't hold a fiberglass top??? Fiberglass is lighter I'm more worried about them mateing them together. If I were to make a sheetmetel top I could understand it, but I'm gonna use fiberglass. I dunno, maybe I'll just do the shaker idea.
