Funny that you mentioned it... I actually saw some of those on ebay for sale a while back... the person selling them may still have them for sale... sorry I don't have more info for you.

Try this,
Ive been thinking bout it but Im not going to buy them just to try it out but
since you already have the faces, take the first panel off the HVAC, its the one with the writing on it, thats the one that black, behind it will be another panel or actually a piece of thin metal, maybe if you can cut a piece of plexi glass or something the same size as the black panel and then put that back on and then put the White HVAC face on it....the reason no light shines thru is because that one piece is black..when you take it apart you'll see what Im taking about...

if you do something like this then you can always go back to black without messin that peice up by cutting a sliver out of it...

let me know what you think...

sounds good....but the reason why the light doesnt show through is because the white face overlay is solid...where the words are is not transparents....

isnt there a bulb right over the hvac panel in that center button panel? i think that should be enough to light it up at night, maybe throw in a brighter bulb.

Wishmaster's87IROC: STOP IT, your car looks perfect outside AND inside. :hail: Your interior is CLEAN.

I was wondering, has your car settled any yet? Can you post some pics of it if it settles quite a bit? Thanks.

Yeah maybe your right...LOL.....Im just I guess addicted to finding stuff to do to it...Myabe I should start buying some power..or new tires...
I did buy some rear GTS blackouts for it. Then Im going to buy some front blackouts. Then the outside will be done. I guess. Whoops, oh yeah I do want to get the windows tinted too.

No, the car really hasnt dropped any I dont think. I have'nt driven it that much since I put the springs in plus the tires are so far gone that just adds to the fender gap where there should be tire tread, you know what I mean?

this picture was just taken on the 5th of this month after I pulled it out from the garage to wash it after putting in the shifter and ram air boxes. Then I pullud it back in and covered it back up.

I made white HVAC overlays about a year ago. I had planned to have a bunch of them made up for sales, but shortly after I made them they started popping up on ebay so I didn't bother.
I did however get one made for myself.

I made the layout in photoshop and then sent it off to a company and had them screen print it on a sticker and then lazer cut it, so that I could just glue it on top of the stock black piece.
I've noticed that a lot of the ones that are available on ebay are made with a lot of colors etc. - but I wanted mine to be identical to the stock one, only in white.

Now, this is the clue:
If you cut it exactly like the black piece, you will get the exact same light as you had before. The black piece is a metal piece that the light does not shine through. However, it is mounted on a piece of plastic that lets the light through - but as long as you cut it the same way, the light will be fine.
Look at the pic below and you will see what I mean. The areas marked in red are the only places where light comes through (note: the white piece is NOT the actual piece - only a template printed out on regular paper):
(please excuse the pic size!)

Here is the overall look together with white gauges and white shifter overlay:

Here is a closer shot of the overlay in place:

Hope that helps!

Ken

Camarokid01,
its just a Grant Signature series wheel #773 you can get them at any Auto Zone. I just went ahead and got a "BowTie" horn button . I didnt like the G/T buton that came with it, made me feel like it was made for a Mustang or something.

bubbakutz, I wonder if you take the black part off like I did and then put the overlays on there, do you think the light would shine thru then? How thick are the ones that you got? if you hold them up to the lite does it shine thru?

Hamspiced, I think I paid $49...I cant remember and then the horn button was $20....no it wasnt hard at all to install...I then turned around and sold my steering wheel so I actually made some money. I dont plan on selling my car so I coulds care less about the stock parts...LOL

I got one of the overlays from the ebay auction (what... $8 or something - well worth my time) and have it in my car. I also had my avatar added in (very small) where the word "fan" usually sits to add just another bit of "custom". My light shines through fairly well AND I have a light that shines down on it from that ledge just above. I have ZERO problems seeing it at night. I'll try to get some night pix this weekend.

It's not real bright or anything but I can definitely see it at night. On top of that I've got the light in the little shelf above it shining down. I'll try to snap a decent pic tonight once it's dark.

Kat...YGPM

Couldn't you take the black part off and add an ovelrlay to the back of the clear plastic cut out exactly like the black one? In this image, make a white overlay that exactly matches the black, and add it to the back of the clear plastic?

grr..can't add image to edit, next post wil have the image that was posted above.

You would of course have to take off the white writting on the front plastic and place the prefered color on the white piece you put on.

I just busted out a glue stick and slapped it on. Of course, I forgot to take pix last night, so hopefully I'll remember tonight.
