possible to repair quarter panel?

looking at buying a car, its hit in the drivers rear, the quarter was pushed down and buckled past the weel, and theres like no gap between the door and the quarter now. is it possible to fix something like that? just thought it couldnt hurt to pop the question to see if theres something i didnt know about quarters, and if its damaged to that degree you have to weld in a new one.

anyone have success with straightening/fixing a crunched rear quarter, or did you weld in a new one?

I haven't done this on a third gen, but I have on my moms fourth gen. We bought it wrecked from a yard for $2500. The drivers quarter pannel was pushed forward into the door and into the rear seats. I just cut off the piece and welded on one from a differnt wrecked car. The hardest part is getting it lined up right before you weld it in. If you can, I would suggest getting under the car and looking at it...just to make sure it isn't too tweaked.

isnt it different with a 4th gen, since it looks seperate from the peace that wraps around the roof, but on a thirdgen its all sorta blended in...

thanks for the reply though, gets me thinking, welding looks better now that i see someones done it and didnt screw it up like i would lol

anyone else wanna chime in?

When my mom bought the car, I looked at how the section that's behind the roof pannel attached. Both the top part of the roof, and the part behind it (that wraps around to the other side) are urathaned on. I wasn't going to go through the trouble of cutting the wrap around piece of..then glue it back on. So I did it like a 3rd gen would have to be done.

Here's a pic of how it turned out. Yes I know the pinstriping is comming off.

came out nice, where on the panel did you end up cutting the old one off and welding the new one back on?

Where the yellow line is...was a real pain in the butt to weld the new one on...since it was so close to the roof wrap around. I also cut most of the door jamb off.
