this is the exact reaosn why why I decided to pull out fromt he origional buy-in, bugs & loose ends that need ot eb fixed, will they be selling the oldere style gauges or will they only be a trade? I will definatly buyt he older style look.
I assume they'll be available to buy, as well. I don't see why they wouldn't... it would just be a waste of money otherwise. Also, coudl you make the post for the HVAC and auto shift plate overlays a sticky as well?
Well guys,
I pulled the overlays off. I can not figure a way to get the needles to show up at night. I have tried blacklight, glowing paint, etc. Just no good.
I am putting the overlays on eBay. I bet someone will snap them up with Buy-it Now. How much should I ask?
Since I have already installed them, SR will not take them back. I could dispute the charge with CapitalOne, but why bother?
Oh well, live and learn. I am just going to use some bright 194's to lighten up the gauges. It will make it far less of a hassle to get my other gauges to match the factory ones.

you're not the only one, I like the way they look, my car redlines at 5500, at 10 units different in Oil, doesn't bother me a bit, I know where the needle ought to point. Just my .02 cents.

Here is my next chain of thought: take the cluster totally apart. Remove all of the gauges, then primer the inside of the cluster. Using a can of "chrome" spray, paint the inside of the cluster. Then, using two or four small (3 inch) blacklights (available at Pepboys), put them inside behind the gauges. This will in effect make the light shine onto the front of the overlays, like the factory ones. Use some DayGlo paint on the tips of the needles, which I have already done.
Well, what do you guys think? Any other ideas?

That's pretty close to what I am planning to do. I'm gonna find a way for the the black lights to work. I think it would definitely complement the look of the gauges. I bought a cluster off of eBay and it should be in Today or Monday. And then the planning the starts. I'll keep ya'll posted if it works.

something i'm not sure about with the blacklights is... if they're not true blacklights (where you really can't see them turn on and off, unlike those blacklights you might use in your room with blacklight posters), the white of the faces will reflect back a purplish hue. Ever wear a white shirt and turn on one of those blacklights for a poster on your wall? Your shirt glows.
However, the guy with the VW or whatever car it was in that tech article, successfully mounted blacklights, and lit up the needles without that problem. So who knows. This is gonna be a trial and error process I'm guessing.
One way to get the blacklight in there could be with blacklight string neons. Try that. They fit everywhere.
I may just get some clear needles from another car and try to fab something that way. I do like the fiber optics idea, though it would be a bit expensive.

Well, I happen to have one of those true blacklights in my room, and sure enough, the gauges glow with the UV light, so I guess we'll have to come up with something different. Oh well
As far as I can tell, everyone that is returning the faces for the "older" reverse indiglo has 0-30-60 oil pressure and 5000rpm redline. If this is correct, let me know! I must give S/R the goahead for the production of these!
Also, it looks like everyone got an email from S/R about returning the overlays, so you know what to do.

of course they would sell it cheaper. but if it wasn't for us, nobody would even have these. I consider it a favor to other Camaro owners, which is fine with me.
I believe it will be easier with 0-30-60 and 5000 redline, since that's what most everyone has save I think 1 or 2. Personally, I never really read the numbers anyway... LoL. I'm going to email them now to let them know.

Please have everyone who wants an exchange to send it back, and as soon as the new ones arrive, we will ship them out to the people who sent them back. Have everyone keep their inverters, also make sure they disconnect the power from them as they will burn-out with out the load from the gauges, they will have to buy a new inverter if they damage it.

I have a feeling that they are trying to "dump" the halo style they made for us since no one here likes them. You can't blame them for trying to recover some of their money.
Anyway, just a thought.
Anyway, just a thought.
I got an email from SR about the new overlays on Saturday. They said that they wanted me to pay them $25 for the ones that we ordered. WTF?!?!
I emailed them back yesterday and said no thanks and that I would just send them back and call my credit card company. I guess they didnt like that. I got a rude email back from them saying that they would exchange the overlays for me for free "WHEN THEY COME IN!". (Just how they put it.)
Then they said that if I do call my cc company that they would come after me for the money and report me to a collection agency and try to ruin my credit!!!
I do not know about you guys, but I have had it with them. First, we get the wrong overlays, then they want to charge us for the right ones. I write to them camly and get a response about my credit. WTF?
I am not going to be treated like this by a company that I sent my hard earned money to. I will be calling CapitalOne to see what I can do. I am just so mad right now. As far as I am concered, they are a crappy business that does not know how to treat customers. I will not be threatened like this!

They can't ruin your credit due to a dispute. If you dispute the charge with your Credit Card company, it is then up to the vendor to prove that they delivered what you ordered in as timely fashion. Should they just blindly send you to collections, you should go to court, plead your case, and they will most likely lose.
Be careful though, they have offered you a solution to their error. You will have to prove that their solution is unacceptable. Basically, this can get nasty; however, I believe that they will try to do almost anything to avoid this because it is a) bad press and b) opens them up for defamation suits should they go ahead and put a negative rating on your credit and then have the court judgment go against them.
You MUST weigh out the desire to go through this fight vs accepting their offer. Don't do anything rash yet. If they offered to replace the gauges for free and accept your used ones, that tells me that they really want to avoid the legal route. The "credit threat" is at best a scare tactic. I doubt they would follow through (they've admitted fault be offering to fix this problem in the first place.)
My advice (unsolicited I know) - take their offer. Get the gauges you want and then don't deal with them again. If you don't even want to put them in your car because you are so disgusted - there's eBay. They'll sell easily. Maybe negotiate a discount for what you already paid.
I will agree with you completely on the customer service angle. Sending veiled threats and e-mails in CAPS is a little unprofessional. They could avoid the caps altogether and say "It would be unfortunate if we could not come to a resolution here. We value our customers and wish to see this transaction completed to your satisfaction. However, we feel that we have offered you a suitable replacement and continue to expect payment for our services." Sounds better than pay up or we will ruin you.

Wow... this comes as a surprise. They've been pretty cordial with me thusfar. I agree that you should get free replacements even if they were installed (how can we tell the colors were wrong unless we installed them?). Hopefully it can be resolved.
Just go an email from them, after I contacted CapitalOne. My CC company said that they would have no recourse against me, and that they would be more then happy to fight it for me.
SR has said that if I send the overlays back to them, they will refund my money. I will not deal with them again, as they have poor business practices. Why would they try to threaten me like that? Just wanted to warn you guys.

LoL.... a fork sounds good.
The new overlays will take the same amount of time, approximately 4 weeks from whatever day they told the manufacturer to make them. That was like friday of last week or something.

Those of you that already installed them, how did you get the oil pressure part of it to sit all the way down. My gauge needle is rubbing the overlay so it won't let it function.

Well I'm told by SR that the replacement "reverse" overlays are in now and will be shipping soon.
More detailed information:
S/R now has the standard reverse indiglo overlays in for the gauge cluster. For those of you that wish to exchange the halo reverse overlays we originally recieved for the standard style, there is a two week grace period from TODAY in which you can exchange them at no charge, less shipping the original gauges back to them, if you haven't already.
And for anyone interested, the buyin for the HVAC and Auto Shift Plate overlays will be set up this weekend. You can follow that story here.

HONESTLY, I am not too shocked with how they handled this.
I personally find their website not very Professional Looking. Usually you can tell the quality of a company by the website. If it's full of "!!!" and "???" on their sentences (like with this company) this usually tells me they are not as Professional as they make themselves to be.. And usually is true.
A professional REAL BUSINESS usually wants to make themselves sound mature, and business like.. "!!!" and "???" on sentences is not BUSINESS LIKE..
The way the website is layed out is also not too much of a surprize to their custom service.
My opinon: They did not do the needed research before global production.
They send out gauge overlays to you, the customer, that have the wrong oil readouts, or tach, and is definately TRUE that those guages is NOT what is advertised on the website as being, you all deserver to have free replacements.
EVEN if they charged say $10 or so just for a replacement fee.. I wouldn't think that would be too reasonable and they would not lose ALL the money. But to send you incorrect, different guages and they tell you to PAY full price for another one for THEIR mistake is WRONG.
That is like going to a restuarant and ordering a hamburger without ketchup and getting one WITH it.. THEIR mistake. They should replace it FREE and not charge you for another hamburger (sorry about the example; just hungry)

Um....er....
has anyone else who sent in their old overlays for the original style received their set back yet? I sent mine quite awhile ago and nothing has returned. I fear that I may end up with a digital inverter with no faces.....

This is Dan-alloy aka machinist until someone fixes my alloy account
Anyway, I sent my set back along with CW racing's set of overlays on 5-27-03. And like you have heard nothing, and not gotten CW's cluster back either.
This is getting kinda ridiculous waiting this long for them.

I personally LOVE the way the ones are for the "82-89 PONTIAC FIREBIRD TRANS AM 120MPH BLUE REVERSE GLOW GAUGES"
http://www.procarparts.com/store/dis...8289FIRE-BLREV
I particularily like the way the background of where the numbers are on the outside are a shade of bright blue, and a cyna change of color for the actual number indication lines.
I have emailed them a number of times to make this particular style for the 1992 Camaro (in particular the Canadian 240/km / 140mph version.
Basically the same exact reply was to the words of "check back with us in another month"..
Anyone else here interested in this style?

Alright, before anyone has a coniption here:
They're not charging anyone for replacing the overlays. That's only the case if the ones we originally recieved have been installed! You can't order a hamburger, get the wrong one, eat the whole thing, and then demand another one. Same with overlays that have already be installed.
I have been keeping in constant contact with Shaun from S/R. The replacement overlays are "supposed" to be recieved sometime this week. Like I said in the other post, if noone gets their replacements by Monday July 7th, I'm raising a whole lot of **** with them.
As for the other overlays (HVAC and auto shift plate), they will not have a buy-in set up for a couple of weeks, due to relocation. If this does turn ugly, don't think I or Dan or anyone else is going to back down. This will work out either way.

Well, I am giving them until the 1st of August. If I do not have them in my hands by then, I am contacting my credit card company. Let SR deal with CapitalOne about it. This is just crazy, what kind of business are they running?

I just called SR and the guy that answered sounded surprised that I hadn't gotten my replacement overlays. (I won't comment on this statement by them further
). Anyway he said he had only 4 people returned the original overlays, and that he would contact them.
So, I'd call 1-800-755-4569 and find out what's going on. I shipped the two sets back (mine and cwracing's) by UPS, so I have a tracking number and the guy I talked to knew they were received on 5-30-03. (almost 2 months ago!) I just hope everyone esle used UPS or sent the overlays certified mail or with delivery confirmation.
I've got to say I'm in agreement with Thomas here in that I'm about to call my credit card company and file a complaint. This getting way out of hand.

So........has anyone heard from these guys? I know that I have emailed and called them and just got the run-around. I have been holding off on calling my CC company, but it looks as they are going to force me to.
Has anyone got the "old" style without the halo?

I got my new faces in the mail 2 weeks ago. I haven't installed them as I am worried about how they will stand up over time. This has not been the best purchase so far, and I don't want to have gagues that don't work atfter only a few weeks - only to buy a new cluster to fix what was wrong.
