What kind of paint should I use for my engine bay. Por-15 or regular black paint with a **** load of clear coats.

yes the engine is out there is no a/c and no heater box. I welded sheet metal over all the holes, and welded over some other holes too. I sand some rust away too. The Formula is a teal looking color. I think a gloss black look would look sweet. but i do not know if i should use por-15 or paint .

I used 3 cans of high temp engine enamel on mine, no clear. Looks great. i did it while the motor was out though. I wouldn't to POR 15. May come out kindy funny lookin.

Standard spray paint will hold up fine to underhood temps. Obviously, the better paint (if we're talking spray bombs) you buy though, the better wear resistance it will have (i.e., wal-mart 98¢ gloss black is not as durable as Krylon). Unless you have a serious rust problem that needs taming, I wouldn't worry about something such as por-15.

i used a 15$ gallon of rustoleum gloss black oil based paint. it turned out good and pretty tough. it took a lot of pressure from me and a screwdriver to scrap some off.
