Shift boot installation help.
This is really minor. But I was just curious. I just got a new leather shift boot from a friend of mine. For FREE!. Hard to beat isn't it? Anyway I was wondering if there is a way to remove the shifter plate console (it seems to be glued in) or do I have to remove the whole center console to do this swap? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Well I actually went and did it. I got the new boot installed and it looks great. I cleaned up my console and cleaned up all the damned cigarette butts that were lost underneath the ash tray. Cleaned the ash tray and repaired the cigarette lighter. I did manage to crack the very top of the shifter plate where it rests underneath the radio pod. This is no big deal as my plate looks like crap. Partially and mostly due to cigarette burns left in it from the last owner. But the shift boot looks greate and I know what I am going to have to do to replace my console and shifter plate when I get to it. But cleaning the thing inside and out has made a huge difference in it's appearance.

How did you seperate the leather boot from the trim piece? On mine it seems to be glued as well. Should I disconnect the window/mirror connectors to get more slack to look under the trim in order to detach the shift boot from the trim?
