Hood insulator...

where can i get that black insulation piece that's connected to the hood.. mine is getting ratty and i want to replace it.. thanks in advance for any help

I got mine from GMpartsdirect...some people will say you don't need it...if you've got nice paint under there, or just aint bothered, then leave it. Me, I'm a bit of semi-stock ****...semi because I've chromed my stock air pan

I got mine at 1aauto.com a couple weeks ago. I had to get some new clips at the auto parts store.

I believe that the purposes are to provide sound insulation and to protect the hood paint from engine heat.

Sound insulation maybe, however, the sun gets the paint hotter than the engine will. Do some searches, lots of opinions on the subject. Mine has been gone for 9 years, without any problems.
