life changing

Hey guys I know this isnt thirgen related but.....
I work at a fastfood pizza place, well late tonight as we were closing a masked "gentalmen" entered thru the back door and put a gun to my head, needless to say I gave him my money, the stores money and a bag for it all. He asked for my car keys, to which i replied, You know how to drive a stick? well appertly he didnt I found the keys next to the car.
He got away this time but who knows maybe the little crack head will screw up aventual.

The point

As the police officers(thanks a million to them) :hail: :hail: :hail:
sayed I did the right thing to give him what ever he wanted. You can replace cash but a life is harder too. I know this sounds corney but please im urging all of you to if ever in this situation give them what they want.

although I must say if he would have taken my car, I was chasing his a$$ down, Just joking

I hope this helps and thanks again to any police officers on here.
thanks
Craig

I don't think the guy took the car, he said the guy couldn't drive stick and he found the keys next to the car.

Anyways, glad to hear that you're alright man. Thats crazy.. I work at a pizza place too.

A manual transmission has actually worked as an antitheft device! Glad your ok but Id be calling my insurance company and demanding a discount for your newly proven anti theft device .

Its supposed to be a fact that only 20-25% of the driving population in the USA know how to drive a manual transmission which in theory should mean that 75-80% of car thieves would pass on cars with a stick!

I've always (Sort of) joked about manuals stopping people from taking your car... I guess it's really true, then...

Good to know you didn't get hurt, though!

Glad to hear your ok. I now know of two people who's cars havent been stolen because they were stick. Another guy on the boards had his car breakin into they took his headliner and his neighbor actually help the thiefs push the car a few feet
Someone would have to be reall stupid to try and rob me, first you'll have to find my shop out in the middle of nowhere, then catch me offgaurd, and somehow dodge the loaded 12 gauge with 7 buckshot shells in it Anyways, its good that you did do what the crackie said and he didnt shoot you. Nowdays many robbers just seem to shoot people without hesitation.

That's funny. You know, a B&M Ratchet shifter works for that as well, especially when you don't have a shift indicator. At least it has kept my family from trying to move the car.

Good call. Very brave in my opinion!

As an interesting side thought, we have 4 cars in our family in the UK. 2 Camaros (Left Hand Drive) and 2 "normal everyday" cars (Right hand drive). I asked my Wife to fire the 1991 RS up and press the clutch so I could listen for a possible release bearing failure. She sat in the car, looked at me and said "which one is the clutch?". I was quite surprised by this, since she has driven a stick for 13 years. I said "why do you ask?" She explained that since the steering wheel is on the other side, aren't the pedals the other way round? Very logical thinking! And for a split second, I was hesitant!!! Even though I have driven it for miles!!!

Luckily she pressed the right one!

By the way, how did he get away then? Were your keys checked for fingerprints?

Andy.

I'll sneak in before Andy...Guy's, the car is imported from the States, the pedals and shift pattern are as they came from the factory. Incidentally, the shift pattern is the same on euro cars, we just do that with our left hand, the biggest problem after driving a manual LHD is trying not to change gear with the door handle in the eurobox.

No, they are the same as for you! Clutch on the far left!!! I hate to imagine what would happen if they were the other way round!!!

Shift pattern is the same. Same T5 gearbox.
Now when I drive our RHD cars I keep bashing my right hand on the door panel when trying to change gear!

Andy.

Wow, I would of made a mess in my pants if someone pulled a gun on me. I always thought if somebody would steal my car. The only thing I know is that my car would not be hard to find considering the SS hood with stripes. No one in Fresno has a car like mine so the cops should not have a problem finding it if someone does decide to steal it. I am usually meticulous were I park but it is a different story when someone pulls a gun to your head.
