Need help with my new thirdgen.

hey all i need your help on this one it scares me.lol
well anyway i got an 89 TTA right and the guy before me got hit. the door was smashed in enough so u could not open it. the door and fender was replaced. k well u no the part were on the body that has the door hindges, well it was smashed there 2, so they pulled it out and welded the hindges on it (u can see the welding) so this is the probelm>> lets say u open the door soon as u get to the half way mark it makes a clumping noise and drops a bit and vice versa when closeing.(goes up a bit) does anyone no whats going on with this door??? and the thing makes noises when i stop. please and info this would be great.

if thats the case, then i believe AndyZ28 or something similar to that on the boards sells an excellent sagging door fix for our cars for a reasonable price. hopefully he'll stop by in this thread

from what you are saying, it sounds like you need a new fender with the hinge mouts, and also the hinges. It sound like it was welded in the wrong spot or something.

It sounds like the hinges are shot, or they weren't rewelded right.

The repair was done ok (at least as far as the clunking). That movement is from the hinge pin being loose in the worn/non-existant bushings. Take a look between the door and the jamb as you open it, and you will see the pin rock back and forth.

as mentioned before, Andyz28 sells a great kit for this, and im sure you can find replacement bushings elsewhere too.
