I finally got this finished. Well, I didn't, it cost $75 from the painter that my father works with. I really like it. Please excuse the light circles. The glare was terrible. Let me know what you think.

 

I say beautiful for the amount of money that was put into it. Wish I could afford something like that.

 

That is sweet! I just ordered my 4"cowl induction hood! Can not wait to get it put on! Please post more pics! I want to see pics of it on the car too!

That was a cowl added to an OE hood? Whats the underside look like..


What about a shot from the back of the cowl?

I'm curious as to how it looks where it was mated with the hood.

Thanks guys. I have more pictures, but the disks are at home. I will bring them tomorrow and post some more. It is on an OEM hood that had the blisters. I sold those, and bought the cowl. I don't need 4", but I liked the way it looked. I did cut out the bottom, but not all the way to the edge of the cowl. I was worried about stress cracks forming in the fiberglass used to shape it into the hood. I used Jesters idea of rivets every 2", and then fiberglass matting and resin to mold it into the hood. I tried the fiberglass myself, but a body man I am not!! So I asked Kurt (the painter who did this) to do it. For $175 total invested, I think it came out real nice.

 

I like it a lot better mounted on the stock hood... I believe most aftermarket cowl hoods complete don't have the two indentations on the left and right. They break up the hood a little more. I like it a lot. Good job!

Nice car launchpad... were did you get it done?

 

I got the car done at Lazer Autobody Here in town. They do awsome work. They always have very nice cars in the draggins car show. It's kind of hard to get in there, really a buisy place due to excellent work and great customer service.

wow, you wouldn't even know it was an add on. They did a great job on that.

One other thing, is that your slide in the top picture? Cute!!

 

Yeah! And when the wife gets mad, I can break out my bed leaning against the wall, and play with all my collector cars!

 

 

I like it, all except for how back on the hood the cowl starts. It doesn't look quite right. Still looks great though!!

My Harwood has them.

Here is also an example of what I mean about the cowl starting back further than the aftermarket hoods...

On the aftermarket the cowl starts all the way at the front of the hood...it just flows a little better. Like I said yours still looks great!

 

Yes, and I agree there. I would like it better if it would have started more toward the front. Since my mind was made up not to spend the $400 for a whole hood plus paint, I wanted to buy the cowl only. The problem I ran into is I couldn't find one long enough to reach the front, yet have the curve in it to match the hood without breaking as I fastened it down. I even thought of moving the one I have towrd the front, and using wood ties and fiberglass to extend the rear. After much contemplation, I decided to leave it alone, and use what I had.

 

Johnsjj2-- hey man, would you mind posting a pic of your gauges behind the steering wheel? I love that look of the autometer (I am assuming that's what they are) gauges setup the way you have them. What did you use to mount the smaller gauges underneath the AC vent? I'd like to get some ideas. Thanks. -89IRO

 

My bad on the indentations. But personally, I like it better that it doesn't start at the front of the hood. I always hated how big the aftermarket hoods made the nose look.
