frame rusted repair?

I have 87 trans am the frame is a little rusted pretty good for being up north. not alot of rust but in one spot under the driver side the floor panel is starting to rot out and the frame is getting alot of rust on it now.
now I decided to put a 383 in this car which is coasting me alot of money useing all forged parts as it will be supercharged/100 shot..
this will all be in vain if the frame rusts out on me what can I do to get the rust off the buttom of the car?
will it continue to rust even if I don't get it wet?

How much money do you want to spend? Do you want to do the work yourself? I mean you could spend 3k for a whirly jig, and bead blast the undercarriage, or take it to a shop and have them do the repairs. You seem uncertain as to what to do so I'm guessing money is a factor tho.

Check into Por-15. I've never used it, but I know it dries to a hardlike shell, making it almost impenatrable to rust. I've also heard it works to remove rust, but I don't know for certain. I do know they have a web page, and I have never looked at it, but it's http://www.por15.com/ .

Good luck,

Mathius

I've used Por15 on a rusted floor on my '67 Cutlass Supreme convertible. I used some fiberglass cloth soaked in it to span some bigger holes. It does cure rock hard but you need to do both sides of the rust spot and get every bit of rust or it'll trap water and rust thru in a different spot.
I don't think I would do that kind of repair on a unibody car- welding would be better to restore the strength.-Just my opinion!
