I mounted a 5" tach (w/o shift light) in the same location as stock--simply remove the stock tach from the cluster, and and enlarge the opening slightly and the tach will "slip in" from the outside. You could make a cstom opneing for the shift light as well.

i don't really want to do that, i'd like the keep it one the dash somewhere, but i bet that looks awsome. so do u think i shoudl put it on the dirvers side corber of the dash on rigth in the middle?

im not tryin to be a smarta55 but i just dont see the point of havin 2 functional tachs, im sure the factory tachs arent the greatest, but HERE, this is my input, i think shift lights are a great help to have but i dont see a good spot to put one, i good place i have see that is hidden, is take it and mount it behind one of vents for the heat, its hidden and u can still see it and itll light up right through the vent. ive seen neons behind vents too(kinda cool) but if u definataly want another tach then i guess u dont need to worry about mounting a shift light, camaro drivers have tach mounting made easy, my friends looks great.

This is where I put mine at. I like it. only thing I dont like is the position of the shift lite, the steering wheel is right in way of seeing it, at night with the cover off its not bad though, it won't completely blind you.

I have seen them mounted on the far side of the center vent before. On the opposite side from the previous post. I've also put one in the dash but grew tired of it and went back to stock.

Why do you need a shift light in an automatic?

For people with built trans or anyone running a ratchet shifter that manually shift their trans. I ran my best time manually shifting my automatic, Barking 1st and 2nd. My shift light is set above what my regular shifts points are so it doesnt come on unless Im manually shifting it!

Yup! Also, if you have your car locked in low, like your about ready to race from a roll, dare I say on the street, when you hammer it, its nice to have the light to let you know when you are going to shift.

Ahh. Thanks for the info. I've seen it before, but I always let my vehicles shift themselves
