Bumper Removal?

I remember hearing that you can shave a good amount of weight from your 2nd Gen by removing the steel bumper in the front and rear underneath the plastic. Does this hold true for thirdgens as well?

Also could someone post a link to a good article on dropping the pounds off your thirdgen(and I will search of course).

personally, i wouldn't remove the bumpers.

they are steel for safety.

if you do alot of racing, dont take off the bumpers. :nono:

i have heard of people guttin their 3gees...backseats, carpet, and i saw one guy who had a plexi-glass backwindow. i know those are pretty heavy, an i plan on doin that to mine (sometime).

Yeah that obviously crossed my mind haha. Does anyone have a pic of it off the car or something? Im sure it would severly effect the rigidity of the car too come to think of it. If they are simple enough maybe an aluminum one would be a cool upgrade.

Not if an aluminum one was there to replace it.

yeah but like project iroc said their for safety. those reinforcements are made a hss (high strength steel) and are designed to bend and crumple in a certain way. if you start re-engineering your car and you wreck that might be the part that saves your a@@ and your car from being totaled. its up to you anyways
