Changing interior color..

I'm in the process of changing my interior from grey to black, I've gotten ebony 4th Gen Leather T/A seats, as well as brand new molded black carpet and black headliner. My only bottleneck is the interior plastic pieces, rather than spending obscene amounts of money and time finding the pieces on eBay, I was wondering if anyone has found a way to do it yourself. There has to be some sort of interior paint/spray that achieves a near-factory look/texture.

Any help would be appreciated.

you can easily paint all of the interior pieces. I repainted mine with duplicolor, it was very simple, and with all painting projects the key is the prep work. I sanded all of mine down to get rid of the texture. I wanted mine to be smooth. I used a plastic adhesion promoter, which worked very well. THen simply prime them up, paint them whichever color you choose, and then use clear coat. I used 3 coats of primer, sanded them down with 600, then 1200 grit paper, 3 coats of color, again sanded them with 600 then 1200, and 3 coats of clear. I don't have any pictures, but I'll try and get some together.

if you are changing everything to black, go pick up some vinyl dye. works great on plastic. no runs, nothing. i did my center console (cause 13+ year old plastic will fade) and it came out beautiful for cheap. you can give this stuff a shot and if you dont like it, just paint like previously mentioned. but so far, this has done a great job of fixing up my plastics.

Here is another option-look in the junkyards. I got the entire interior minus front seats and front carpet for $100, including door panels. I went from blue to grey.

Surprised nobody mentioned it but .... I believe Krylon (sp?) just came out with a plastic spray paint. It already has the adhesion stuff mixed in. All you do is clean the surface and spray. I may try this on the old grey set I have.

It's called Krylon Fusion. It's supposed to be a plastic paint that bonds on the molecular level. That's what they say anyway. I have some old plastic parts that I took out of my car and replaced. I'll test some on that when I get a chance. I think I will go to Home Depot today and see if they have it.
