When I repainted my 89 Formula years ago, I did it in a body shop--he told me to keep wet sanding the aero spoiler(had cracks in the paint)to prep for paint. Once the car was repainted it came out beautiful!! I only had the car a year or so after it was painted--but it never cracked or flaked while I had it.

Funny that you say that. I just looked at my T/A and the same thing is happening to it--flaked down to the black rubber.
There's gotta be some kind of primer that'll let the paint adhere to the rubber.

i think it flakes because the rubber contracts and exspends too much compared to plastic.

A lot of times this is caused by release agent from the mold where it is made you can go to your local auto paint store and ask them for a cleanner that will get rid of the release agent
