It's a direct swap, I just did mine a couple of months ago.

Be careful, you might run into a couple problems. Does your current gauge cluster have gauges for the oil pressure and temperature, or just warning lights? If you have warning lights, you'll need to switch sending units for the oil pressure and temperature. If so, don't fret, its not very hard, and both sensors can be had for under $30. On the other hand, if you already have gauges for the oil pressure and temp, then you're good to go, it will swap right in.

Thanks for the replies...

I already have an oil press. gauge and a temp gauge in my cluster, everything is basically the same accept for the speedo.

BUT my oil gauge is quite useless, it just bounces around; and the water temp gauge is not accurate either.

What would it take to fix that, or could the new cluster help?

Thanks

Well, it could be a few things. What do you mean your oil pressure gauge bounces around? And how do you know your water temp gauge is not accurate?

I dont know if you noticed ,but the speedo needle is orange not white. Its probably from the half 85mph/kilo speedo w/the double needles. You can see where the other piece broke off.

The oil press. in the cluster doesn't read, and acts like it has a super spring in it by going from 0 to straight up passed 60, or flipping all the way over.

I know that the temp. gauge doesn't work because it stays on the 100* mark nearly all the time, and I have a dual A-pillar pod with both a mechanical oil press. gauge ran through with copper, and a mechanical temp. gauge.

I noticed that orange needle but just figure i could swap out one from my old cluster, and I thought the one in the pic was from only years 86-89, not '84, but if I get whats in the picture that would work.

I just noticed the cluster on ebay looks like yours from 84, like the rest of the needles which are continually "pointy", and the yellow and redline on the tach are just like yours, only little marks, mine is like a full line.

Wonder if it was swapped or something, I'm thinkin about passing up this one.

The tapered needles with the verticle seperate lines are the first design.the needles with the tips cut down are the later style as are the full lines for the red zones.Ive never seen the tapered needles with the full red lines.Unless someone switched the needles.scroll down for pic of both.bottom is later style, top is first design
