Firebird Grill

I've decided to add a grill to my bird by removing those plastic bumpers and replacing them with grating. It looks a lot better and actually allows air into the radiator.

Exactly how, w/o cutting the impact absorber away and the impact bar and taking out the air director baffels, does it let more air into the radiator ?

The impact absobers (at least on my car) are all honeycombed, so with two extra holes in the nose it helps a ton. I dont have an air dam, and my car only overheats when the A/C is on

See there is an area that looks like it should hold foglights... Goes straight to the radiator

... don't think so.

Midnight Sun, how in the world would you add a grill up there? Could you maybe post a concept pic or something cuz I'm trying to figure it out.

Interesting.. apparently yours is 84 or older. Mine looks nothing like that. The impact bar and absorber are the same for t/a or firebird...

I guess I thought it was a different thing altogether. I thought he meant to just remove the little plastic bumperette thingies on the Formula's bumpers and replace them with a grill or something. Not anything that you guys are talking about

It isnt a grill per se. But just those little grill's in the front of the car. I got an 83, so the little grills were stock, but this guy probably has covers instead of grills.

No front grills

Front "grills"

That is exactly what I was talking about Midnight Sun...my 82 came stock with them but later on the noses changed with no grills...and if you look at DevianB's car you can see he removed them and put some mesh material there to cover them up.

I removed those stock grill things and replaced it with mesh in the original screw holes. then just removed that honeycomb stuff and the plate in front of the radiator and i was done. With my manual fan switch I get no hotter then 160 in stop and go, and on the highway i dont even need to turn it on.
