Rear view mirror fell off!!!!!!

Alright well my rear view mirror mysteriously just fell off while the car was sitting for a couple days. I assume this was caused by heat, it's the only thing I can think of. Anyways, whats the best way to stick it back to the windshield. What type of glue do you guys recommend.

Yup. the same thing happened to my GMC truck when I was in high school. Just go down to the store and tell them you need the glue for the rear view mirror. I have used three different brands(my truck, and my buddies cars) the all were the same, none fell off for at least 7 years.

when such a thing happens around here, we just go down to speedy autoglass (i assume they have speedy in the states) and they stick it on for free. I've sent lots of people there, and none of them have been charged for it.

Same thing happened to me one day....although it didn't just fall off it took a chunk of glass with it. Which I thought was strange....now I can't really glue it back in place because the big chunk of glass that is missing. Anyone else have that happen to them?

just be sure not to glue it upside down.. sounds stupid, but its REALLY easy to do... the sides have a taper on them. smaller flat face must face the windshield..

because the glue bonds so tightly to the glass, once glued, it will NOT come off without taking a chunk of glass with it...(like what happened to SC82TA)

if you do screw it up, you can glue another mount to the first one.. ive seen even pros do that every once in awhile when they screw up..lol

i'd fill the space with some clear epoxy. make sure it's designed to hold metal and glass, not just plastic though. and after you've flattened it up, then superglue or windshield glue the mirror on.

lol, a chunk of windshield came off with the mirror??? I can't say I've heard of that happening before... not on its own anyway. Sounds like your girlfriend's leg smacked it pretty hard.

lol no no girl smacking it with her leg unfortunately...I was just waiting at a red light once and it just fell off taking the glass with it. So now I just have the mirror resting on my dash. I need a new windshield anyways a car kicked up a rock on the freeway a couple weeks ago. It hasn't cracked anymore but its like a double little spider crack...and I discovered another small crack somewhere near the edge...so I figure I'll just get new glass and stick the mirror on there.

I have!

30 minutes after I had glued on the holder for my new rear-view mirror with maplights, I go to put the mirror on the holder, and I have to bang it a little for it to lock in place.

Then the stupid holder comes off, taking a chunk of glass with it, I grab the holder, not knowing what happened, and I sliced my hand open.

Then, I got a bandaid.

And Finally, I reglued it on, and waited overnight before I put the mirror on it...
