Help me please!!
Sorry this is off topic, but I have posted at several other boards with no response, and I use to belong to this board and just remembered, so here I am.
I rear-ended a guy the other day and he went and got two estimates, from two of his friends I am pretty sure. The thing is, on both claims, the total cost of the parts is no more than $410, but they are claiming like $2000 worth of labor on it. What the hell!!!! It says the body needs 19.7 hours of work, 14.2 hours of refinishing, and 7 hours of frame work. Is this typical, because to me it seems like a bunch of BULL@#$%!!! Sorry guys, I just had to vent. Any help is greatly appreciated.

if theres fram damage, $2000 is definitely reasonable. I know at the body shop that i work at if a car comes in with frame damage it nearly doubles the cost of the work thats involved in fixing the damage.

if ur going throug insurance see what ur insurance is going to do maybe they can get the guy to go to one of your insurance shops and get the car fixed.
Labor is what gets you, parts are cheap and the labor is what kills, as you see in the claim prices. 7 hours off frame work wow, how hard did u hit him?
ACCIDENTS SUCK!!
Frame damage? A lady backed into my friends Intrepid. The rear fender was scratched and the rear tail light was broken. Sanding and repainting the fender and replacing the tail light came out to just over $2,000. I guess that's the going rate now a days.

lol, ever look at the price for one of thoes tail lights?
well i rear ended him going about 10mph, and I have absolutely no damage to my car. Whats the likelyhood of doing frame damage to one car and none to your own? Also, they were trying to charge me for alignment and on one of the estimates, 28.7 hours of body work. I dont see how this is necessary to replace a bumper, and maybe a trunk piece. In 40 hours you should be able to rebuild the fricken thing!
