dash pad

Sorry guy I don't know the part numbers for the bolts. But I need to steal your topic so I don't start a new one.

Gm no longer makes the dash pad for the 82-92 camaro's. Does anyone Know of a company who makes a after market dash pad?

part number

I called a few friends at chevy, and they checked with the dealer PDC. They said there was not a specific part number. All they had was it said a #8 tap screw. Sorry that was all that was listed for the bolts that hold in the top part of the dash pad.

Hey 91rs, i'm stripping a couple of camaros and i have more than enough bolts if you want some i'll send them to you. As far a dash pads, i try ebay and only because you can see what you're getting. I've sold the ones out of these cars already but i'm getting another car next week, 92rs i believe, and the pad on it looks perfect.

The dash pads are few and far between. There are some on ebay. You can also try Hawks and Third Gen Resource (www.thirdgenresource.com) If you get it from Roy at 3rdgen, then expect to pay about 200.00 for a very nice, uncracked one. I am not sure what Bruce (Hawks) charges for one, but I bet it is close to 200.00. I can't remember if Classic Ind still offers that dash pad or not.

My advise: Go to salvage yard: Find Camaro or Firebird: Get screws

I have a ton of them from my parts cars and salvage yards, any time I get a part I ALWAYS get the attaching screws, nuts, clips whatever, I never know when I might need some odd clip that attaches something that you cant buy the clip for.

As for your part# question and without going nuts, I just got done looking at the Parts & Illustration catalogs and there is no refernce to them I have found yet...

Man did I get lucky last week! I went to a junkyard looking for seatbelts and ended up walking out with this dash pad! Wanna know the best part? $17.90!!!! The best deal of my life, and it is in mint shape! I could easily sell it on eBay for about $90 but I've decided to install it (as you can see my old one was looking like hell). But yea, just get the screws from a junkyard, i just left the ones i pulled on the seat of the car I didnt need em, you are bound to find them in a junkyard for sure. Because, what kind of junkyard doesnt have a thirdgen in it??? I havent been to one yet that hasnt, One out where I live actually has 11!

Eric, is that new pad plastic or some kind of vinyl-covered fiberglass?

And speaking of those screws... anyone know how to get one out of the vent?

I'm asking because my dash pad is vinyl-covered fiberglass, and everyone says the OEM is plastic. I got mine out of an 84 SC, and I don't know if it's stock or not.

My firebird dashes are a vinyl covered foam... is the best way to describe them... I believe originally they were all soft vinyl, and as they age and the oils evaporate or get wiped away they get hard and eventually crack.

Yeah, okfoz... when I first got the 84 I thought the dash was plastic cause it was so hard. One of the corners is ripped and it looked like vinyl, so I put some vinyl/leather restorer on it and it magically softened to life. I guess it's OEM then, thanks for the info.

yeah i read somewhere around here that a company (or maybe just one guy) was making and selling aftermarket dashpads made out of ABS plastic. sounded like a good idea to me. also if im not mistaken he only wanted like $80 for them...

Wow thats amazing that I've never even heard of this kinda stuff before. I am really picky about keeping my interior looking as original as possible, so I would probably not get the abs plastic, even though im sure it looks just as good. Has anyone else found as good of a deal on a dash pad as I did? Just curious how lucky I got
