door vent

you know what im talking about? the one when you open the door. what is it for? ventlation? and whats the best way to deaden the vibration when bumpin the speakers?

I know this post is 6 years old, but no one answered it and I was tryin to find the answer on google and found this thread. So I'm gonna ask th same question, what are those door vents for?

I'm not exactly sure what the vents are for. Some people will say its to ventilate the climate control system.

To deaden the vibration I used some foam tape where its touches the body. Worked well and looks untouched.

They're apart of the ventilation system called the body lock pillar exhaust valve (check your owners manual for more info).

it is to provide air flow through the body so that gases do not build up in them.

Yes, they are for ventilation.
They also let air escape quickly when you close the doors with the windows up.

GM first introduced these vents so to speak in around 1970 (correct me if I am wrong on the year) as part of their flow through ventilation system on all GM cars,,,,
