hatch pulldown - missing wire

Ok i have the hatch pull down assembly. I was able to refurbish the motor and fix the gear my self with my excelent techniques. But the thing only goes down. And when i try to shut it the thing went down to low. so i couldn't shut it. I have tried for hours to get it to shut and go up but nothing. Now i have this wire shown here that connects to nothing

and

Its a white wire with a small black connector and its the only one with that connector and nothing to connect it to. you can see that blue wire with that big white connector. It connects to something but the white one has nothing. What wire color does it connect to? what wire do i have to tap into to connect it? I do not know if the car came with this stuff stock but it is an 86 so it had to right? It was also previously taken apart and the d00d ruined one of the motor brushes and i had to put in a new one and they broke the gear in half. I super glued it back together then put some epoxy on it. I think it will hold.

Car: 1989 Firebird Formula
Engine: Internal Combustion
Transmission: Completed
Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
The white wire connects to another wire (black with an orange stripe) which then goes to the small light in the cargo area. It 'grounds out' when the hatch is unlatched to light up the bulb.
