Is thi sstandard for an '86. They are riveted on I have lost the inner piece on the other side. Hoping a donor car will have the same...

No, they are just glued on.......Simply pry them off, that's what i did, when i removed mine......

As you can see no rivits or any body was done when they were removed....

 

NO NO NO... Dont pry them, those rivets might pull out wierd.

Some cars have rivets, other cars have glue. If you think you have rivets, then your guess is probably correct.

Use some dental floss to cut through the adhesive... if you get stuck on a rivet.. well then they are riveted on.

Try to get them at a junkyard if you can. The new ones are expensive.

 

I had mine taken off when it was painted. Much cleaner looking IMO

 

they look like old trimline moldings deelers put on .the center should be vinyl and peel out then you can see the rivit heads to drill out they also used two face tape if your carefull you can save and reuse if ya want the rail and ends are aluminum

 

I have the same ones on my T/A. They are riveted on and whoever painted the car, just painted over them. They look like crap and I will take them off and replace them with the adhesive backed ones after I paint the car.
