4th Gen wheels on a 3rd gen?

My friend wants to sell me his 96 Z28 wheels (which are in excellent shape) for only $200. I would jump on this deal, but i went to Third Gen Resource, and they have an adapter for sale for like $360 to fit 4th gen wheels on a 3rd gen. Are they really necessary? Or will I be able to fit them on without the adapters?

They are necessary, the backspacings are different between 3rd and 4th gen, without the adapters, the wheels will hit the inside fender well before you can bolt them on. It sucks to have to do that, but you do what you got to do...

Darn. Oh well, $200 for wheels and $360 for adapters. $560 is still cheaper than new 3rd gen wheels.

That is still a hell of a deal. You may want to shop around for those adapters, though most people would recommend using this guy:

I think they are the same ones everybody else offers, you're just taking out the middle man and save a few bucks in the process.
