What do you think of my Firebird Headrest idea??

I should recieve these firebird sail panels in the mail in the next week. I saw them and had to have them. A member on these boards found them on an 84 S/E. Apparently they got these "GTA" style sail panel birds color coded to the car as an option.

These birds are hard to come by so I didn't want someone ripping them off my sail panels after I mount them.....so I got this idea.

I want to somehow mount them to my headrest of my 93 black and red camaro buckets.

I did a quick photoshop to give ya'll and idea. Let me know what you think. I couldn't think of a better place to mount them.

If you can think of a different location that would be cool let me know.

here are the birds...

Looks cool but they're metal and would hurt if ya leaned back on one. My 85 s/e had them on the sails but it had gold instead of the red so i turned them into keychains

One of the best places I have seen some were on the speaker box in the back. They were inset into the box to make a flush look and was lighted somehow. It looked real nice.

That does look good but, if they are GTA style (as in size), they would be considerable smaller. The ones I had didn't seem much over 1.5" in height. Do you have any size measurments ?
It would look tough like that though if they are that size.

Hey deadbird,

Im not sure on the size, I think they are identical to the GTA style so I guess they would look pretty small on the headrest. I think they would still look sweet even if they are actually going to be smaller than what I photoshop'ed.

It probably would be uncomfortable to lean your head back on but I guess I could position it to be in a place that would not make contact.

I may even try to put it onto those covers that are on the inside of the sail panels, you know the ones that cover the stock speaker locations in the rear seating area.

I'll get a real pic up of the locations im thinking of and show it to you guys when I receive them.

Later,
bill

If those emblems are considerably smaller, you may want to look at the front bumper emblem on the fourth gen birds. They are identical to size in the one you chopped of the headrest, and they are the identical emblems. Also, I think they're a plastic/fiberglass piece.
