I need help finding the right cowl hood

I am painting my 91 Z and would like to buy a 4" cowl induction hood. The problem is this: I want (have seen these hoods around) the cowl to curve,or angle back towards the windshield, not like every other hood that is straight up. I've been doing some research on this and I cant seem to find one. Maybe I'm smokin' crack. Who knows?

4" cowl from Harwwod. I have the "lift off" and it angles towards the windshield like you are talking about.

You mean those cowl's that have the top follow the lines of the lower part of the hood? I think Harwood has those.

I'm like you.. I like those best too. I like the 2.5" ones myself though.. not so 'racy' looking, but looks like you have something to hide, lol

is there a disadvantage to having a lift off hood opposed to a latch style?? I talkin like freeway driving movement/ theft/ bad contours??? What would that hood set me back? I really wanna get rid of my 83 CFI hood, and replace it with a 4 in cowl lift off style but dont know the disadvantages...

Thanks
Jason

I dont know if there are advantages to lift/latch. Personally I dont want A) Hood pins B)A place to set my nicley painted hood whenever I want to get under it. As far as price for a 4" Harwood, its $450 for the hood, and $130 to ship to me. I found another site that has 4 3/4", $350 for hood, $95 to ship..... I have talked to a guy that had a pinned hood, he said at 155mph the hood "moves around alot"

Here is mine, it was a stock flat hood, i welded a cowl off of a 67 camaro hood on it and did the body work, cost was about 120 bucks, and about to days of body work.

Harwood is the only company I know of that makes them angle like that. My buddy had a 4" harwood that latched instead of using hood pins, so I know they do/did make them. Here's mine: it's a 3".

Does harwood make anything smaller than 3 inch and if so, where can you find them?

I could have sworn Harwood made a hood that was either 2 1/4 or 2 1/2" tall, because I've seen them on other people's cars on the board. But when I went to buy one, the smallest hood I could find was a 3".

Yeah, I've seen them in a couple magazines and on a few cars, but never was able to find where to actually purchase one. Maybe it was just my eyes playing tricks on me, but they looked smaller than 3 inch and it was exactly what I want. Does anyone have any info on where to get a 2 1/2 inch or smaller harwood cowl hood?

Goodmark makes a 2 1/2 metal cowl hood that is VERY nice.

I just bought a Harwood cowl, waiting for the car to get back from the body shop from a paint job (its been there almost 4 weeks already ) but anyways, when I called I asked for a 3" cowl, the hood measures closer to 2.5" than 3 but it looks good on the car.. At the time I ordered my hood their website said 2.5" for the same part number hood I received, but the mini catalog thing they sent with the hood said 3" for the same part #.. It looks like they've updated their site and changed it a bit though cuz now it says 3" http://shop.eharwood.com/eshop/B-12101.html Either way its almost 3" at the windshield but not quite there I still like the way it looks though.

I'd also look at Glasstek. They make very good quality hoods with minimal prep work. Even the body shop that installed and painted mine said it's one of the better fiberglass hoods they've ever worked with. They now have a website up- http://www.glasstek.com

Here's a crappy pic of mine, but it's a 2". I really like the fit and finish of the hood.
