Underhood insulation removal

I was just looking at the underside of my hood and am thinking of getting rid of the nasty old insulation thats on there. It looks like it comes off easy i imagine with a lot of dust though. Did anyone doing this make the motor sound louder i really want to keep the underhood noise down to a minimum so the bass sounds louder. But i think it'll look cleaner without it.
